#TarotTuesday – The Lovers

Welcome to another Tarot Tuesday!

If you are just joining me, let me explain the inspiration to begin these posts. In Texas, and all across the country, Taco Tuesday is a popular day when Tacos are usually 99 cents. So, I had the inspiration, or Angel nudge as I like to think of it, to create a Tarot Tuesday. Each Tuesday I will post a different Tarot card and give its meaning. I pray and ask for the right card that will bring a universal message.

I created a short video to demonstrate how I pull the card for the posts. If you’re interested, here’s a LINK.

Today’s card is – THE LOVERS from the Major Arcana.

I must admit I scratched my head on this one until I read the meaning and it all became clear. Read on!

The keywords for this card are: Love, harmony, relationships, values alignment, and choices.

The Lovers card shows a naked man and woman standing beneath the angel, Raphael, whose name means ‘God heals’ and represents both physical and emotional healing. The angel blesses the man and woman and reminds them of their union with the Divine.

In its purest form, the Lovers card represents conscious connections and meaningful relationships. You may have a beautiful, soul-honoring connection with a loved one, and believe you have found your soul mate or life partner. While the Lovers card typically refers to a romantic tie, it can also represent a close friendship or family relationship where love, respect and compassion flow.

The Lovers is a card of open communication and raw honesty. Given that the man and woman are naked, they are both willing to be in their most vulnerable states and have learned to open their hearts to one another and share their truest feelings. This card is a sign that by communicating openly and honestly with those you care about, you will create a harmonious and fulfilling relationship built on trust and respect.

On a more personal level, the Lovers card represents getting clear about your values and beliefs. You are figuring out what you stand for and your philosophy. It’s time to go into the big wide world and make choices for yourself, staying true to who you are and being authentic and genuine in all your endeavors.

At its heart, the Lovers is about choice. The choice about who you want to be in this lifetime, how you connect with others and on what level, and about what you will and won’t stand for. To make good choices, you need to be clear about your personal beliefs and values – and stay true to them. Not all decisions will be easy either. The Lovers card is often a sign that you are facing a moral dilemma and must consider all consequences before acting. Your values system is being challenged, and you are being called to take the higher path, even if it is difficult. Do not carry out a decision based on fear or worry or guilt or shame. Now, more than ever, you must choose love – love for yourself, love for others and love for the Universe. Choose the best version of yourself.

Finally, the Lovers card encourages you to unify dual forces. You can bring together two parts that are seemingly in opposition to one another and create something that is ‘whole’, unified and harmonious. In every choice, there is an equal amount of advantage and disadvantage, opportunity and challenge, positive and negative. When you accept these dualities, you build the unity from which love flows.

See what I mean? Wow! Following the horrific death of George Floyd, we have seen cities across America going up on flames, accompanied by looting and rioting on levels I have not seen in my lifetime. If ever there was a time for The Lovers card, it is now! Your thoughts?

Recorded in 1965, this song is relevant today.

  1. I saw an interesting video by a well-known media analyst who pointed out that most of the marches are peaceful but we don’t know that because our press edits for drama and conflict. I can’t remember the guy’s name bit I’ll look for it and bring back a link. or send it to you in a tweet. As for the lovers:” On a more personal level, the Lovers card represents getting clear about your values and beliefs. You are figuring out what you stand for and your philosophy.” I think this is relevant to where I am now.

    1. I agree wholeheartedly, Rob. We all have to decide what we stand for and then walk our talk! Thanks so much for stopping by!

  2. This is a lovely card, Jan. I relate to it on every level. That being said, I believe that it is every American citizen’s right to protest, especially about gross injustices. I don’t condone the riots, looting, and fires, but it has already been established that groups separate from the protesters are the ones causing the chaos. There are people of all races protesting peacefully. This isn’t about Black vs. White or Black vs. Blue, this is about the Human Race vs. Racism. How long are we going to remain quiet and allow this kind of thing to happen, while we sit comfortably at home acting like everything’s okay? There are people suffering and dying. We can’t just wash our hands of this like Pontius Pilate.
Sorry for the mini-rant. <3 xo

    1. No apologies necessary, Vashti. You are 100% correct. The ones perpetrating the violence are not the peaceful protestors. And yes, we do need to take a stand and do it with love! Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving a thought-provoking comment! Hugs!

  3. Oh my… how we need this now more than ever. I truly believe that love is the light that guides us home. May we all find peace and never lose hope for a brighter tomorrow. Thanks for sharing, Jan, as always. xo

    1. That is a beautiful expression, Natalie, and I embrace it! Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment today!

    1. As do I, Brigid. I KNOW light is stronger than dark and Love is the most powerful weapon we have. Thank you for leaving a comment!

  4. It is most upsetting, what has been happening in the US. The murder was a terrible thing but the rioting and looting shouldn’t be happening in a first world country like the US. It makes me feel very vulnerable that our mothership first world country is in this state. I think that the poverty and unemployment caused by Covid-19 are the route of this as people are very angry, frustrated and ripe for revolution.

    1. I have to agree, Robbie. The anger and frustration reached a boiling point and the media fanned the flames into a full-blown frenzy. I pray for peace. Thank you so much for stopping by!

  5. I loved that song and know I’ll be humming it all day. This card is so relevant to the unfolding tragedy happening in your great country. My daughter and I have been watching the news in tears. Many cities here in Oz have held rallies in peaceful support of our friends in America.

I recall the marvelous speech given 52 years ago by the late Martin Luther King Jr …Which said in part …
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.
    *
I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

How incredibly sad it is to find so little has really changed in half a century. Sending all my love and healing thoughts to all of you. ❤

    1. Thank you for your beautiful comment, Soooz. Dr. King’s words were true then and true today. I agree with you. I have decided to stick with love. Hate is so dark and heavy and nothing I want any part of. Yes, it is sad that so little has changed in half a century. Thank you for your healing love and thoughts! It all counts!

  6. It’s hard to love in the face of such horribly injustices. It’s hard to love people who have nothing but hate. If ever we needed a clear, calm voice to rise above the noise and lead to permanent change it’s now. But I see none and that’s sad.

    1. It is terribly hard, sister. And there are so many who seem to be drowning in hatred. It is a sad state of affairs, for sure, and no leadership. Thank you for stopping by. We can all make choices for ourselves and that’s about the extent of it. Love you!

  7. Such a timely card given the state of current affairs. We definitely need love in our communities and our hearts. Well said, Jan!

  8. This is such an incredible card. It amazes me how much these readings relate to what’s going on in our world. I really resonated with 2 of the meanings – values/beliefs & choice. I feel like they closely relate. With all we have going on, I’ve had to dig deep in myself to get my emotions in check. I find myself in a constant state of sadness & heartache. Now more than ever, it’s so important to stand up for what we believe in. To speak our truth. As always, thank you for posting, Jan. ❤

    1. Thank you for stopping by, Marlena. I sense that you are a very strong empath. You feel people’s suffering deeply. Your defense is your connection to Spirit and your deep love for all humanity. Stay safe, stay positive and I believe with all my heart LOVE will win!

      1. You gave me chills, Jan. I’ve been told numerous times that I’m an empath and the more I learn & grow, the more I agree with that. So I take that as a beautiful compliment. 💕 Positivity and love is what I pray for. It’s what we truly need. Hugs to you, friend!

    1. You’re right, Craig. We do need something to grab onto as we see our country implode from within. Thank you so much for stopping by!

  9. A big wow again! I am on sick leave due to me heading towards a burnout last week. The meaning of the card regarding making choices, finding ways in combining seeming oppositions, and standing true to myself… everything perfectly fitting!

    1. Yes, Erika!! I love these confirmations that the Angels continue to guide me with these card readings. Making good choices right now seems more important and vital than ever before. Thank you so much for stopping by!

Thank you, Jan, I love this reading. I agree with you that now, more than ever, we need to consciously choose love, beginning with ourselves. Whether in small everyday exchanges or across the globe in the fighting we see, we all need to be the best version of our “me” and let go of the other. Therein lies the healing we all seek. ♥

    1. Well-said, Gwen. The best “me” that we can be is all we can do. Well, that and try to stay out of harm’s way as the violence continues to escalate. I trust Spirit and the Angels more than ever and know they must be crying as they watch people destroy and hurt each other. Ultimately, I believe with all my heart that LOVE will WIN!

    2. Gwen M. Plano

BTW…I loved singing along with “What the world needs now….” ♥

  11. I love that song! This card is so appropriate right now in so many ways. The virus has isolated people from the ones they love. It has brought fear which has caused people to withdraw and stop sharing and communicating. And the murder of George Floyd has reopened the hurt and anger of many and has once again shined a light on the inequities in our society. People are hurting and they are lashing out in anger, and we need to meet that anger with compassion, open communication, and love. We need to see them. We need to hear them. And we need to fix our system so that needless deaths don’t keep happening.

    1. Exactly, Yvette. We are on the verge of a civil war inside our country and I don’t see anything happening that can stop it. So, for me, I cling to my faith, my belief that LOVE will always win and try to fly under the radar. Stay safe, my friend, and thank you for stopping by!

    1. Thank you for stopping by, Staci. As we watch our cities burn, and the violence escalates, it is imperative that we stay connected to love and to Spirit!
