#TAROTTUESDAY – THE HANGED MAN

Welcome to another Tarot Tuesday!

If you are just joining me, let me explain the inspiration to begin these posts. In Texas, and all across the country, Taco Tuesday is a popular day when Tacos are usually 99 cents. So, I had the inspiration, or Angel nudge as I like to think of it, to create a Tarot Tuesday. Each Tuesday I will post a different Tarot card and give its meaning. I pray and ask for the right card that will bring a universal message.

I created a short video to demonstrate how I pull the card for the posts. If youā€™re interested, hereā€™s aĀ LINK.

Today’s card is from the Major Arcana – The Hanged Man.

After all the intense movement from the Aces and Eights the past four weeks, we get a reprieve.

Keywords: Pause, surrender, letting go, and new perspectives.

The Hanged Man reminds you that sometimes you have to put everything on hold before you can take the next step, or the Universe will do it on your behalf (and it may not always be at the most convenient time!). You may have heard the saying, ā€˜What got you here wonā€™t get you thereā€™, and that indeed is at play in this card. The Hanged Man calls you to release the old mental models and behavioral patterns that no longer serve you so you can see your world from a new perspective and embrace new opportunities that would have otherwise been hidden from you if you didnā€™t hit the brakes.

Hereā€™s the thing. These ā€˜pausesā€™ can be voluntary or involuntary. If youā€™re in tune with your intuition, youā€™ll start to have a sense for when itā€™s time to hit the brakes and put things on hold ā€“ before things get out of hand. But if youā€™re out of alignment and oblivious to those intuitive signs, the Universe will probably put things on hold for you, in the form of continued obstacles, ill-health, and breakdowns. When you sense the ā€˜pauseā€™ coming, pay attention to it; otherwise the Universe will turn up the volume until you canā€™t ignore it any longer.

When the Hanged Man appears in a Tarot reading, your projects and activities may be coming to an unexpected and abrupt halt. Donā€™t keep pushing forward, hoping that more force will drive you to where you want to go. Instead, surrender to the opportunity to pause and view it as your chance to reassess and re-evaluate where you are on your path. Something new is emerging, and you wonā€™t be able to see it unless you allow the time and space for it to come through.

The Hanged Man is your invitation to welcome these ā€˜pausesā€™ with open arms and surrender to the ā€˜what isā€™ ā€“ even if it is different from what you expected. Take time away from your routine to connect with a new way of thinking and seeing. Sure, you might have to put important projects on hold while you do this (and it might be super inconvenient) but trust me, itā€™ll be worth it. This is the Universeā€™s way of helping you see new perspectives and preparing you for the next uplevelling that is happening in your life. If you push or resist, you will meet more obstacles along the way; instead, ā€˜allowā€™ the opportunities to flow smoothly and effortlessly to you.

The Hanged Man can sometimes reflect that you are feeling stuck or restricted in your life. What is holding you in this ā€˜stuckā€™ position? What is preventing you from moving forward? On one level, the Hanged Man is asking you to surrender and let go. Instead of investing in specific outcomes or resisting your current circumstances, accept them and allow yourself to flow with life. On another level, you are being called to change your perspective and shift your energy and may find that separating yourself from your everyday life is helpful, whether itā€™s going for a walk in nature, going on a retreat or moving to a new country. Change up your routine so you can start to shift your energy and flow more freely again.

The old saying ‘going with the flow’ comes to mind. It seems that the entire world has been put on pause. If we ignore the signs and keep pushing forward when we know we should be still, as the reading says, The Universe will put on the brakes for us. Last year in August, I fell and fractured some ribs. THAT, my friends, put me on a hard stop. I’d been ignoring the signs. So, let’s all take a deep breath, step back and see what unfolds. What say you?

As always, thank you for joining me! See you next Tuesday for another inspiring message from the Universe via the Tarot Cards!

  1. So many times our bodies try to warn us to stop and take a break but too often we don’t listen. Then we wonder why we get sick. Sometimes we need to just hit the pause button and unplug. Great reading, Jan. <3

    1. Exactly, Vashti. It’s so hard to stop pushing ourselves. But there are times we do need to hit that pause button and hang upside down for a while. šŸ™‚ Thanks so much for stopping by!

  2. I need this card in my life right now. Too many things seem to be happening beyond my control. I feel like I’m on the spin cycle and it won’t stop! lol

    1. As the card indicates, Jacquie, if we aren’t able to stop a spin cycle, the Universe will do it for us. šŸ™‚ Forewarned is forearmed. Take a deep breath and look for a different perspective! Hugs!

  3. This card is incredibly accurate for me at the moment. The Universe forced me onto a pause position because I refused to acknowledge all the warning signs my body was sending me. Now I have to take a step back, I need to take a deep breath, and let go of my misconceptions about what constitutes importance in my life. My plan for today is to sit out in the garden in our lovely spring weather and begin re-reading “To Kill A Mockingbird” I have a pile of classic paperbacks that I have loved for years and I plan on re-reading every one of them. I gain much pleasure from running my Fiction In A Flash Challenge and that will continue, but the two new WIP I’ve been working on are going on the back-burner for now. I need to teach myself to stop swimming against the flow and simply go with it. Great post as always. Thanks, Jan. ā¤

    1. Oh, Sooz, you are so right about swimming against the flow. I’ve done that most of my life and literally worn myself out. Yes, the Universe hit your pause button again. I love that you are re-reading the classics. I have almost the entire works of Erskine Caldwell waiting for me to re-read and I intend to make time for them as winter comes to us. I’m glad you are continuing the Fiction in A Flash. It has been a great entertaining blog! Thank you so much for your wonderful comment! Hugs!

      1. I adore all Erskine Caldwell’s works, and winter is such a perfect time to snuggle down and read. Hugs right back atcha, my friend. ā¤

  4. I can see how this applies to me. My recent health crisis stopped me dead in my tracks and just when I’d started a new book. As you know, I’d been working nonstop for years, cranking out one book after another. But now that I’m improving and slowly getting my energy back, I’m finding myself stuck. I’ve been asked to go with a friend to the mountains for a few days. I think this is a sign that I definitely need to. Love you, sister!

    1. When I drew this card, I immediately thought of you, sister. Talk about getting stopped in your tracks! I’m so glad you are finding some energy again and you’ll figure out how to get back in the saddle. I think a trip to the mountains is a wonderful idea. There is so much wonderful energy there! Thank you for stopping by today! I love you!

I’m not a fan when the universe steps in to get my attention. I know breaking my foot got me published and I feel like I’m in the same place and trying to pay attention to see where to go next, hopefully less painfully lol.

    1. Lol, Denise. Yes, here’s hoping the halt won’t be quite as painful or debilitating. šŸ™‚ Forewarned is forearmed! Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

  6. It’s so true with the Covid that we put everything on hold. My niece is getting married in Hong Kong on 10/10. She recommended we cancel the trip and she would post the video of the wedding on Facebook. My husband’s niece is getting married in DC early November. We cancel that trip as well. All the travel plans are cancelled and just sit tight.

I know some people tried to push it and went out in gatherings but proved to be dangerous.

Thank you for sharing this card today, Jan.

  7. Jan I find this fascinating as well way close to home. I need to keep a close eye on Tuesday insights with your cards. Thanks for helping with perspective. Take care!

  8. Well, COVID-19 definitely put a huge pause on many situations for all of us. Hubby and I had vacation plans that didn’t happen and I’m not sure when they will or if they will in 2021, depending on the state of things. That’s a pause I’m adjusting to as vacation always brings a nice respite and relaxation.
I do remember when you fell and fractured your ribs. I’m so glad you got through that “pause” and recovered, Jan!

    1. You are right, Mae. COVID-19 has put the pause button on a lot of things, whether we like it or not. I do hope 2021 brings about a change for the better, but I have the nagging feeling that things will never fully return to the way they were. We simply have to figure out how to adjust and keep our mental and physical bodies healthy. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day! Here’s to better times ahead!

    1. Very true, Robbie. Self-care is so important, especially for busy mothers and wives. We tend to put everyone else first. Thank you so much for stopping by! I wish you a wonderful day!

    1. We push and we push and we push and sometimes we simply need to take a short pause for the cause, so to speak. šŸ™‚ Thanks for stopping by, Craig!

  9. Meditation naturally brings a pause into my every day. It is not always easy, especially when I’m in the grip of anxiety, but it is always worth it. With teachers being forced to go back to the school building, I find this card coming at just the right time. Fighting against it only brings me more stress, which will ultimately hinder my health. So, it’s time to pause and find a way to adopt a new perspective and adapt to my changing circumstances. Deep breath…and sigh…

    1. Meditation is a wonderful daily pause and often we can gain a new perspective within that short time we give ourselves a break from the world. Yes, fighting against something you cannot change is futile. A deep breath is for sure needed and sighing it out is a great release! Thank you for stopping by. Hugs!

  10. What an interesting visual and great interpretation! Going with the flow probably is hard for all of us, but if we can step back and see the ways we are hanging upside down, we just might surrender, as you have so beautifully expressed. šŸ˜Š

    1. So true, Gwen. Sometimes just taking a different perspective brings a whole new life-changing path. Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

  11. Well, this helps alleviate the guilt of not adding to my WIP in a couple of weeks! And today I woke with the biggest headache, lols. Hubby and I should have been on a month-long tour of Scotland throughout September, but due to COVID, we never made it. Maybe everything is telling me I need that break regardless, lols. I’ve already reduced my planned work from Wednesday onward as I’m having the flu jab in the morning, and it always knocks me off-kilter for about 3 days. Who knows, maybe by next week, I’ll be back up and at ’em.

I bet those ribs sure did put on a hard stop … ouch!
    Thanks for sharing, Jan šŸ™‚

    1. Hi, Harmony! Yes, COVID put a halt to a lot of things we would ordinarily be doing. Give yourself a break and hopefully, 2021 will bring a brighter traveling future! Thank you so much for stopping by!
