Welcome to another segment of exploring The Elder Futhark Runes!
Today we take a look at Wunjo (woon-you).
If I had to pick a favorite rune, I think this would be it. It is the rune I chose to use in my White Rune Series and is introduced in “Ghostly Interference.”
The keywords associated with this rune are: Joy, Pleasure, Happiness, Happy Relationships, Well-being, Success, and a Happily-Ever-After.
This is a very positive rune, indicating all manner of happiness and well-being. When this rune shows up in a reading, it indicates situations that have been difficult are resolved and optimism is renewed. It may be that a surprise development comes into your life which changes everything for the better. That certainly was the case in “Ghostly Interference.”
It can indicate that the Wheel of Karma has turned in your favor and you are about to come into yourself in some way. In one’s work, especially of an artistic or creative nature, it can represent the joy you get from your work.
As the rune of joy, Wunjo is associated with happy relationships. You are truly able to enjoy the company of others.
Overall, it is a super positive rune depicting joy, happiness and success.
See why I can say it’s my favorite?
The birthdates associated with this rune are October 13 – October 28.

Beautiful, Jan. Full of hope and expectancy!
Thank you for stopping by, Bette!
I can see why this is your favorite rune, Jan. Hoping its in all our futures.
Most definitely, Denise! Thank you for stopping by!
Admittedly, I don’t know a lot about runes, but I think everyone would love to have this one. I was looking on your site for something that would indicate how you got interested in this subject, Jan. Is there a backstory, or has this always just been an interest of yours?
What a great question, Pete. There is a very long backstory that started in 1973. π I learned about meditation and Eastern philosophies at that time. Then after my husband passed away, I delved deeper into different metaphysical aspects, such as tarot cards, gemstones, palm reading, spirit animals, and runes. It has only expanded since then as I explore each one on a deeper level. Thank you for stopping by! Have a great day!
I think this one could become my favorite rune too… lol A “good times” herald. Awesome!
For sure, Erika! Good times, positive outcomes, and successful relationships are the aspects of this rune. Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving a comment! Have a great day!
Thank you very much, Jan! You too!
My youngest brother’s birthday falls in that segment and suits him to a tee! I could use some of wunjo’s goodwill π
How cool! I think it would be awesome to be born under this rune sign. Of course, it also coincides with Libra, which is my male character’s astrological sign in Ghostly Interference. I’ve found Libra people to be congenial and laid back. I totally agree about needing Wunjo’s goodwill! Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment!
Hi Jan,
Positiveness is like a bottle of medicine. It changes the whole outlook of how a person sees things. Your article was interesting. I receive my positiveness from engaging my mind as I read the Bible but it is always nice to see how other people receive their positiveness.
Also, congratulations on your new publishing contract. I read it in your newsletter and was very happy for you. I am glad that you have found a home and that you are happy being there.
All the best.
Shalom aleichem
Thank you, Pat. I’m glad you enjoyed the post. I totally agree that a positive attitude changed everything in life, including our health. And thank you for the congrats! I am thrilled that the second book will be coming soon! Have a wonderful day, and thank you for your comment!
I love this rune as well. My daughter, a potter, make runes using clay from her property on an island off the coast of BC. I love my runes for many reasons, the fact they were made by her is one of them. Here they are if you are interested in seeing them. https://madmudslinger.com/image/pottery_functional_wares/runes_with_booklet
Wow, Darlene! How cool! I will definitely check out your daughter’s runes and other wares. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment!
Thank you for this, Jan. I like this rune. Of course, I’ve liked each of them. π
Lol! Me too, John. Each one has its own unique aspects. Thanks for stopping by!
