Welcome to another stroll through the fascinating world of gemstones and their fabulous properties!
Today, I’d like to introduce a specimen that I’ve had for many years and just love it (of course, I love all of my rocks.) 🙂
There are many theories about how and when Moldavite was created, but the most likely theory is it formed from the heat from an asteroid impact around 15 million years ago. After this event, the hot glass was sent flying across Europe where it is mined today.
It is a dark green color and parts of it are translucent. Moldavite is a good stone that is used for those who want to magnify the vibrations of their other types of crystals.
It is good for protection, healing, and cleansing. It is also believed to help awaken the Chakras and prevent negativity.
Moldavite possesses powerful metaphysical properties and if you gaze into a more translucent piece of the gemstone while you’re meditating you will find that it is far simpler to connect with the higher powers in the universe and in your higher self.
It is believed that moldavite has the ability to enable you to surpass linear time. For that reason, many individuals find the stone useful when they would like to engage in a past life or explore the path that their soul is taking in any direction of time. Healers use moldavite to assist with removing emotions and clear the aura of any undesirable baggage from a past life.
Finally, moldavite is believed to raise a sense of self-awareness and assist people who are looking to uncover emotions or feelings which keep them stuck in unhappy situations in the present. Those people will be able to uncover those things that are trapping them in an unhappy present and move forward.
It is good for the crown, third eye, and heart chakras.
When someone picks up a moldavite crystal, the most common reaction – which most people feel first – is a tingling in their hand, which then spreads out into the body. Frequently, the reaction is then felt in the chest, in the vicinity of the heart chakra, and then your face as an intense heat flush.
I have a small piece of Moldavite in a bottle of essential oils and use a tiny dab often.
What do you think? Is this a stone that you own? When I bought mine many years ago, I paid around $30 for it and that, to me, is expensive. I have no idea what they sell for nowadays.
Thank you for introducing this topic, Jan! It sounds very interesting, even though i had not heard anything about Moldavite before. xx Michael

Thank you, Michael!
Thank you as well for the very enlightening information about the power of the gems, Jan. xx Michael
Not much to look at and have to admit I’ve never heard of it. But if it’s good for you, maybe I should learn more. 🙂
It’s true that it’s not a beautiful polished stone. But it does pack a punch. Thank you for stopping by, John!
I love everything you described about this stone, Jan! I will definitely be looking out for this one. Great post! 🙂
HI Jan, this is a very interesting stone. I have quite a large collection of rocks and stones, but I don’t believe I have this one. I shall have a look around and see if I can find one. It sound like a good one to have.
I love that you have a large collection of rocks and stones, Robbie. I hope during this series, I land on some that you have. Thank you for stopping by!
I don’t have any Moldavite but after reading your post it’s definitely on my stone list. I have river rock in my garden and sprinkle my stones throughout.
So much information here. Thanks for sharing.
What a wonderful way to use your stones and to enjoy them! Also, they stay fully charged outside under the sun and moon. Thank you so much for your comment, Sandra!
I like the idea that it took an object flying through space to our little planet to make Moldavite. My sister is a (retired) geologist, so I have seen Moldavite, but I don’t have any.
How fascinating that your sister was a geologist, Priscilla. I think I would have loved that as a career if I’d had the foresight early on. Thank you for your comment!
I have a tiny piece, and I agree, it’s a powerful stone.
How wonderful, Aletha! Thank you for leaving a comment!
I like rocks and minerals, but as rocks and minerals. This one got me on one of my weird tangents. I think moldivate, should be a word. Like when you should be doing something. You want to be doing something, but you moldivate instead.
Lol! Your comment cracked me up, Craig! Take it and turn it into whatever you want. Thanks for stopping by!
I heard the name before but I don’t think I really knew anything about it. That’s amazing what powers that stone has that it gives you that instant tingeling. A very strong and deep effect. I love that.
I love that, too. When I bought it, I had looked around at a lot of different ones, but once I picked it up, I knew I had to have it. Thank you for your comment! Hugs!
Buying by feeling – I like that a lot. Then you definitely get what you need at that moment!
I like the idea of it being a meteorite, Jan! Good idea to keep it in rhe oils and dabbing. I will have to see if I have this one.
I liked that aspect of it too, Denise. Just knowing that it came from way out in the Universe to re-create itself on Earth is pretty spectacular! Thank you for stopping by!
Is it comforting warmth you feel, then? If I picked up a stone and heat transferred throughout my body, I’d probably drop it! lol
Lol, Jacquie. Yes, it is not a jolt, but a comforting warmth that spreads the longer you hold the stone. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
Jan, you are teaching me so much!! Can we fast forward and just have a study date so you can teach me ALL the things. ❤ I’m really enjoying learning about of these things, from the gemstones to the tarot cards. Thank you for sharing!
Oh, it would be so much fun to get together and have a sharing weekend! I’m so glad you are enjoying the posts. That is the reason I am doing them. I hope that they help bring positive energy into a rather dreary world. Thank you for stopping by, Mar!
Wouldn’t though?! You’re doing a fantastic job with the positivity. 🙂
A friend gifted me a small piece of Moldavite a couple years ago. It’s an extremely powerful stone. When I first held it in my palm, the heat was intense! I recall having this wonderful increase of energy all day. I treasure her gift and thoughtfulness. Another great post, Jan. Thank you! 🙂
What a gorgeous gift, Mary! I love the feeling this stone brings. It is definitely special. Thank you so much for leaving a comment today!! Hugs!
Thanks for the introduction, Jan. Now I’m curious if I’d have the same reaction from the stone. Very cool!
I wish you could hold mine, Jill, and we could see. 🙂 Thank you for stopping by!
I know very little about stones and didn’t know anything about Moldavite. I meditate every day, so I’ll have to look into it. Thanks, Jan!
Meditation is such a wonderful way to keep life balanced, Olga. There are so many tools out there to enhance our experience and this little stone is one of them. Thank you for stopping by!
One to buy! I’m definitely intrigued by this stone. Thanks for the interesting info Jan. 🙂
It is a gorgeous little stone, Marje! Thank you for stopping by!
My pleasure Jan. 🙂
Thank you for the information on Moldavite, Jan. Just the idea that it came from outer space is enough to make it interesting. The fact that it tingles the hand and then up to the chest makes it magical.
I agree, John! Thank you for leaving a comment!
😁
I have not heard of this gemstone before. Fascinating story behind it.
Thanks for stopping by, Joan!
Jan, I bought a beautiful piece of polished Moldavite in a Roswell, NM rock shop last year and it’s in the shape of a heart. I just love it. It’s so beautiful and green is my color. 🙂 The one I have has swirls of different intensity of green with light and dark mixed together. It’s just gorgeous. And I love how it was formed by a meteorite. Makes it even more exciting to own. Love you, sister.
If the piece you are talking about is the one I saw at your house, what you have is Malachite, not Moldavite. While Moldavite can be polished, it is rarely ever smooth. I will be doing a post on Malachite and you can compare the two to see exactly what you have. Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving a comment today. We are rock hounds from way back, sister, and no stopping now! 🙂 Love you!
Okay, I know you’re right. I’m not as proficient with the names of rocks as you are. And I mostly buy what appeals to me and look at the properties later. Ha! Rocks are a lot cheaper than precious gemstones. 🙂 I love anything pretty.
Thanks, Jan, for introducing this stone to me. I hadn’t heard of its properties and don’t have one, but now I’m curious. I love how you have stored it. 😊
This is one for you to browse the rock shops for, Gwen. I think you will recognize it instantly because of its bumpy exterior and unique green color. The tiny piece in the bottle is separate from my larger piece but I do love using the infused oil. Thank you for stopping by!
Reblogged this on GrannyMoon's Morning Feast.
Thank you for reblogging, Granny Moon!
Wow. A stone that makes your hand then body tingle? That’s powerful. I don’t know what the mineral sells for now, but I can understand why it might be costly. Thanks, Jan.
I rarely ever pay that much for a single stone, but this one really called to me that day when I picked it up. My hand did tingle and still does when I hold it, especially after I charge it under the moon. Thank you for stopping by, Staci!
My first impression on looking at the photo was, ‘How sinister looking!’ So, no relying on first impressions here 😁. Sounds like great properties. Thanks for sharing, Jan 🙂
That’s actually a pretty amazing first impression. I can only imagine the intensity of the impact of that asteroid. 🙂 Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving a comment, Harmony!
That makes me feel better! 😁
