Tempest Swan is out for revenge. Billionaire Leonard Allred’s software program has put her out of a job. She makes a bet with a friend that she’ll get Leonard to take her on a date so she can get retribution, but a fortuitous accident with an adorable nerd might just derail her vengeance.

Leonard has reasons for hiding his identity from the public. It’s worked well for him so far, until he starts falling for the honest and witty Tempest. But how can he destroy their budding romance by admitting he’s actually the guy she hates?

A wager has gone awry!

Tempest Swan has lost a job she loves and all because of a new software program that does the work for her. Now, she’s out for revenge. Making a bet with her roommate and best friend, Blair, she sets out to get a date with the billionaire who created the software. And she wants a chance to tell him how he has ruined her life along with others in the insurance underwriting business.

That plan quickly goes all wrong when she injures herself for real instead of faking an accident to get his attention. But isn’t the billionaire, Leonard Allred who comes to her rescue. It’s his neighbor, Arty (or so she thinks). And sparks fly.

A series of miscommunications, outright lies, and missed chances follow. The author did a great job of creating many humorous moments as Tempest and Leonard dance around each other, neither knowing the truth nor what was about to happen that would impact both of their lives.

I loved the way the story ebbed and flowed. Both Tempest and Leo confess the strong attraction to themselves, but then deny it and block it when any opportunity arises to act on their feelings. Tempest’s family is warm and loving. Her father, a widow, plays a big part in the story. Leonard’s family consists of his mother and sister. The plot takes a twist when the two families are joined in the most unexpected way. All of the characters are three-dimensional and believable, even the children. But I especially loved Blair and the carefree way she approaches life and love as well as her undying support of Tempest. The side plot about Blair’s dream business creates more for the reader to root for.

I adored this lighthearted story. I love that it is set in Dallas and Plano, Texas, which is where I live. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a steamy romance with plot twists and tons of humor. All bets are off when you open page one!
