MY REVIEW:

This book is an exceptional collection of poems from a group of twelve talented poets! I enjoyed them all and find it hard to pick any favorites. Each poem depicts something in nature and each creates a strong visual image.
I loved Andrew McDowell’s poem, Rough Stones. It particularly appealed to me because I love to dig for these rough stones that can be turned into gems. Fantastic poem!
Robbie Cheadle’s Long Day In The Bush takes us along for a journey through a South African game preserve. Take a look at these lines:
Blood red
Marks final bow
Defines vow to return
Sun’s final promise presented
With flare
I enjoyed Patricia Furstenburg’s A Ladybird on a Doodled Daisy. It’s a delightful poem. Marcia Meara shares poems from her adventures in Florida’s beautiful nature. Luanne Castle captivated me with How The Earth Loves Us. D.L. Finn’s Golden Portal is exquisite!
heavy winter snow
trees genuflect acceptance
frozen petitions
from the heart of the forest
hopeful magic will return
Emily Gittmer’s poem, Mother Nature, Father Time, is a brilliant contrast. I loved Kaye Lynne Booth’s poem, Rain. With all the rain we’ve had over the past month, it’s relatable.
There is undoubtedly something for everyone in this fantastic collection of poems. It’s the kind of writing you want to read over and over again. I highly recommend it!

MY REVIEW:

Such a heartwarming story! I have loved each book I’ve read in this K-9 series and this one is no exception. Caitlyn has a mountain of problems, the least being facing bankruptcy because of her adopted son’s medical condition. So, when she inherits a home in Bluebell, she sees it as her way to clear the mounting debts and get on her feet. Only nothing goes as planned. The house is in severe disrepair, and where will she find the funds to fix it? Logan, a man who trains service dogs, steps up to help, and involves the kind and generous folks who live in Bluebell. I love the feeling of community and the willingness of people to help without expecting anything in return. Henry is Caitlyn’s adopted son. Henry falls in love with the town, the people, Logan, a special dog, Cooper, and especially one odd duck, Donald. I enjoyed seeing the duck playing an integral part in this uplifting and inspiring story. Logan and Caitlyn can’t deny their attraction, yet she’s determined to return to Wyoming. How does it all work out? Well, you’ll have to read it to see, but this book gets an easy five stars from me. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a story based on a small community, people with kind hearts, and a deep faith in God. I read this story in one sitting. Great story!

MY REVIEW:

What a delightful story. I love the gorgeous setting for this adventure. What’s not to love about Arran Island in Scotland? Makes me want to visit. The standing stones are iconic and Amanda’s adventures range from fun to terrifying. The old castles have their stories and their ghosts, and I loved reading about some myths and legends of the area.
I won’t leave any spoilers as to what awaits Amanda there, but I loved the story, setting and characters. This is the perfect story for children and adults of all ages! I highly recommend it!

MY REVIEW:

What a ride! Rebecca Zanetti is a go-to author for me. Her books never disappoint. This story is the second book in the Scorpius Syndrome Series but there is enough back story provided so I was not lost. It literally kept me on the edge of my seat and reading way past my bedtime. Set in a post-apocalyptic America, the theme of survival runs deep. A virus has wiped out most of civilization and those who have survived suffer from severe brain damage left behind by the virus. Only Vitamin B can help those affected to retain any semblance of sanity.
Vivienne Wellington is a respected FBI profiler, or she was prior to the collapse of everything they knew.
Raze Shadow is an elite soldier tasked with rescuing his sister, who is being held hostage by a mercenary group. He has to deliver Vivienne to them in exchange for his sister.
But sparks fly between the two. Then it all goes deeper than sparks. When they become lovers, how can he possibly go through with turning Vivienne over to them? Yet, he has to rescue his sister.
The scenes unfold one delicious and thrilling sentence at a time as these characters fight internal and external forces. If you’re looking for non-stop action with sizzling sex scenes, this book is the one for you. I highly recommend it!

I’ll be sharing more next week!

  1. Thanks for the wonderful review of Amanda’s adventure in Scotland. I’m glad the comment feature is fixed. I thought it was my computer at first! Oh the joys of technology.

  2. Great reads, Jan. I’ve read Poetry Treasure and Amanda in Scotland. Jill’s books are always adorable, and thanks for the intro to Rebecca’s book (great cover!). Welcome back from your break! Happy September!

  3. Thanks, Kymber, for stopping by. As I try to catch up with sharing reviews, I’ll be posting often. I’m glad you saw something that caught your eye. Amanda’s story, although written for middle grade children, is enjoyable for adults as well. Hope you’ll give it a try!

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
