I’m willing to bet we can all recall listening to Credence Clearwater Revival in their heyday. And, while the group was only together officially as CCR for four years, look at the impact they made on the world through their music!
And, now for their 50th Anniversary, Craft Recordings is releasing 7 LP Box Set to commemorate the milestone. The Press Release I received had this to say:
“The arrival of Creedence Clearwater Revival‘s 50th anniversary brings an unprecedented celebration of everything the band contributed in their short but startlingly epochal time together (1968 – 1972). To commemorate this milestone, Craft Recordings is releasing a deluxe box set comprising the band’s complete seven-album studio output: Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bayou Country, Green River, Willy and the Poor Boys, Cosmo’s Factory, Pendulum and Mardi Gras.
Each album in this collection has been mastered at half-speed at Abbey Road Studios, benefiting from an exacting process that allows for an exceptional level of sonic clarity and punch, bringing these classic recordings a new vibrancy. The 180-gram LPs come housed in handsome tip-on jackets replicating the packaging of the original pressings. Along with the complete studio album collection comes an 80-page book featuring new liner notes from music journalist Roy Trakin, archival photos, and reproductions of band ephemera – offering something for both new and the most diehard of Creedence fans.
Although the band members were together for only four years under the Creedence Clearwater Revival appellation, they managed to accomplish more than many artists do in a lifetime. Powered by John Fogerty‘s visceral growl, along with Tom Fogerty, Stu Cook and Doug Clifford‘s gritty, in-the-pocket punch, they’ve sold over 30 million records in the U.S. alone, releasing 14 Top 10 hits, six Platinum albums (two of which went to number one) and one Gold album. They also managed to play over 150 tour dates around the world, including a headlining spot at Woodstock.”
Thirty million records in the U.S. alone! Wow!

I’m curious. How many of you still have turntables that play the vinyl? I managed to hold onto one when I moved from Coleman.
In the attic above the recording studio, Rick must have had over a dozen he’d accumulated. I kept the one we used in the recording studio.
I would be hard-pressed to pick just one favorite song from CCR. There were SO many, but this is one of my faves.
I think this complete compilation would be amazing to have for many years to come. What do you think?

Oh, I feel like dancing, Jan. This brings back my teenage years for sure (50 years? Yipes!). What a trip through time. Thanks so much for sharing.
I totally understand – it doesn’t seem like 50 years could have passed, but it has. That’s okay as long as we still feel like dancing! I’m happy you stopped by and left a comment!
5o years! Eek! How did that happen? CCR were hugely popular here in Oz. Those tunes still linger in memory. Fabulous tribute, Jan! And we have a “Bad moon Rising” coming up on Halloween.
Yahoo!! “Bad Moon Rising” is such a great Halloween song. I’m glad you enjoyed the post and the memories of the music. Thanks so much for leaving a comment! Hugs!
Wow, Jan — thanks for this! I love CCR. I’ve no idea what put it there, but just last week Fortunate Son was hanging around in my head. Sometimes I can hear particular “phrases” of notes (sorry — I don’t know “music words”) so clearly in my mind, even though it’s been years since I’ve heard their songs. Mega hugs!
Yay! I’m glad you enjoyed the post. Yes, songs pop into my head at the oddest times and sometimes the oddest songs. It’s kinda fun and I always wonder if there’s some message I’m supposed to be listening for. Thank you for dropping by and leaving a comment! Hugs back to you, Teagan!
That would be an excellent reason. Put a new turntable on your Christmas want list, Staci! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
Good idea! Thanks, Jan.
My turntable bit the dust several years ago. I’m still holding onto some of my albums and records, though. I keep telling myself I’ll buy another turntable one of these days. The CCR collection would be a good reason to. I love their work.
I had a huge–monstrous!–vinyl collection when I was younger. I finally parted with it a few years back, though my turntable went sooner. Among that collection were several albums by CCR. Now, I have a lot of their music in digital form. Some of my favorites—Lodi, Someday Never Comes, and Lookin’ Out My Back Door. Love those guys!
Yep! So many great tunes they cranked out during their four-year reign. Thank goodness for digital! I appreciate you stopping by and leaving a comment!
I’ve been a CCR fan since the first tune. (Yeah I’m that old). My turntable finally gave up the ghost. I have some classic vinyls that I would love to play but My amp also quit. (I bought them in 1979) So now I have to be content with Spotify. Super post, Jan
John, yours is a familiar story. If not for our recording studio equipment, I wouldn’t have a turntable. I think this box set is a must-have for me. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and here’s to Spotify that also plays mine and Rick Sikes’ music!
Yes indeed. 😀
Some of my favorite music. I referenced some of their songs in The Hat, when Lizzie was playing the bass.
Yes, you did. I remember that. Very cool!
Jan, wow, wow what an amazing band. I love CCR and turn up the radio anytime their music comes on. 50 years, although I was a young when they reigned I grew up loving their music. Now I need to see if I can find my cassette tape of them I have.
Thanks for letting us know about the 50th Anniversary! Woohoo!!
Love you & your posts & blogs.
Thanks, Tonya! Yes, CCR affected us all. And it reached worldwide. Just amazing. I appreciate your comment! Love you!
Wow, 50th anniversary. Credence Clearwater Revival captured an era and our hearts. Thank you for this, Jan. Beautiful tribute! ♥
Thanks, Gwen! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
