#TarotTuesday – Five of Wands

If you are just joining me, let me explain the inspiration to begin these posts. In Texas, and all across the country, Taco Tuesday is a popular day when Tacos are usually 99 cents. So, I had the inspiration, or Angel nudge as I like to think of it, to create a Tarot Tuesday. Each Tuesday I will post a different Tarot card and give its meaning. I pray and ask for the right card that will bring a universal message.

I created a short video to demonstrate how I pull the card for the posts. If you’re interested, here’s a LINK.

I started #TarotTuesday posts back in June 2019. So far, I have pulled 35 cards. There is a total of 78 cards in the Tarot deck – 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana. We are almost halfway through the deck.

Today’s card comes from the Minor Arcana suit of Wands – The Five of Wands.

The keywords for this card are: Conflict, disagreements, competition, tension, or diversity.

As I look more closely at this card, it strikes me from the looks on their faces that these boys are engaging in a friendly competition. Their wands are raised, but no one is striking or injuring anyone. Another aspect of the card is the varying and different costumes each is wearing, as if it represents great diversity.

In the Tarot, the Fives typically represent conflict and change, and the Five of Wands is no exception. This card indicates that you are in the midst of battle, tension, and competition with others and it is impacting your ability to move forward with your goals. Rather than being able to work towards a common goal, you are running up against constant opposition.

With the Five of Wands, everyone is fighting to be heard. But guess what? No one is listening. When everybody has a different opinion, but no-one is stopping to hear each other out, conflict and misunderstandings will run rampant. If you find yourself in this situation, see it as an opportunity to rise above the chaos and disorder. Take a moment to listen to what others have to say – even if you agree to disagree. The key is to tune in to one another and allow each person to make their case. And perhaps, in the process, their opinions may become softer and quieter. They may also give you the respect you’re seeking and listen to your viewpoint.

Sometimes, this type of conflict and discussion can be very productive, such as with group brainstorming and problem-solving. You need a constructive environment where you can test your ideas and have them challenged (and improved) by others. You may benefit from establishing a working group, committee or mastermind group with other individuals who bring varying perspectives and experiences. Be open to this debate as a positive contribution to improving the quality of your ideas and actions.

The Five of Wands also encourages diversity and differences of opinion. You may deal with people from different cultures and backgrounds and struggle to accept their way of living. Know that each person has something unique to bring to the table and that you will benefit by learning more about them and what they have to offer.

The Five of Wands encourages an enthusiastic approach to change. Transition (or even transformation) is coming whether or not you like it; your challenge will be in ensuring that everyone is on the same page and dealing with this shift constructively and positively.

I don’t know how this card speaks to you guys, but to me, it describes our current political atmosphere perfectly. No one is listening to what anyone is saying and nothing is getting accomplished except total discord. I think this card gives us great advice in working with any group where there is different opinions. What do you think?

Thank you for joining me! See you next Tuesday for another inspiring message from the Universe via the Tarot Cards!

As always, I use the Rider-Waite Radiance deck and BiddyTarot.com for interpretations.

I had several Universal nudges to add this song clip. So, here you go “For What It’s Worth!”

  1. The whole time I was reading it, I was think of our political situation right now. I recently watched a movie about one woman in Czechoslovakia who stood up against the Nazis and then against communism and suffered through both. In that movie, you clearly see how damaging close-mindedness can be. True democracy means having differences of opinions and accepting/respecting that. I hope that our country can remember that this year.

    1. I am right there with you in that hope, Yvette. We are in a sad state of affairs with so much about the way of life we’ve taken for granted hanging in the balance. Thanks so much for stopping by, and I agree – I hate typos too. 🙂 Hugs!

  2. Wow!! This card hits close to what’s going on in my department at work. I love these tarot readings, sorry I’ve been MIA lately, I have so much going on.
Happy Valentines Day, love you dearly,
    Tonya

    1. I’ve been missing your awesome comments, sweet lady. I do pray that everything is alright with you and Rob. Happy Valentine’s Day to you both with big hugs!

  3. Simply WOW! This is so timely meeting the moment. I just had a bit of a tiring conversation with a blogger and it was exactly what the card said. I stepped back and did my best to calm him down and simply explain but it seemed he did not “listen” to what I actually said because he was deaf only hearing himself not understanding that he only heard half of everything. But I left it at that and sent him love. So, reading this post is making me stand in awe again!!

    1. Oh my goodness, Erika! I’d say this card hit the nail on the head with that situation. It goes back to that old saying about beating your head against a brick wall. At some point, you just have to back away from the wall and send love! Thank you for your comment! Hugs!

      1. Wow, that was summed up perfectly with beating the head on a brick wall 😄Yes, at one point you need to leave the “venue”… lol
My pleasure and I am happy this incident made a good example … lol! Big hugs back at you, Jan 😊

  4. It’s definitely a fit card for the current state of political affairs.
I do also like that it can apply to brainstorming session and problem solving. I love to brainstorm with a group of people, and am actually looking forward to doing some of that in the near future.

    1. Brainstorming with a group can be exhilarating, Mae! That is, as long as everyone listens to the others. Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving a comment!

I was thinking of the exact same thing, Jan:) It certainly fits the current social mood. It also fits the battle I’m engaged in with a feral cat tapped in our garage amongst my daughters stored boxes. I hope to get it some help but I don’t think it wants it.

  7. This is an interesting choice of card, Jan. It could also apply to all the “myths” and different views flying around about corona virus. I am utterly confused as to whether this is a huge The Stand [Stephen King] type catastrophe or a total non-event.

    1. Very true, Robbie! We only know what the news media feeds to us and our trust in the truth is greatly shattered. Thank you for your comment!

  8. I really enjoy these posts, Jan. They’re so informative, and it’s interesting to see the different things each single card can represent. I feel the same as you do, that it describes what we have going on right now in our country. Too much conflict and not enough listening. 🖤

      1. It was really a great album. LOL, I used to belt out several of the songs on it during my commute, not caring who looked. Shelter Me was my favorite, as for second, I couldn’t possibly choose!
