Welcome to another Tarot Tuesday!
If you are just joining me, let me explain the inspiration to begin these posts. In Texas, and all across the country, Taco Tuesday is a popular day when Tacos are usually 99 cents. So, I had the inspiration, or Angel nudge as I like to think of it, to create a Tarot Tuesday. Each Tuesday I will post a different Tarot card and give its meaning. I pray and ask for the right card that will bring a universal message.
I created a short video to demonstrate how I pull the card for the posts. If you’re interested, here’s a LINK.
Today’s card is the King of Cups!
You may remember that Cups represent the emotional level of consciousness and are associated with love, feelings, relationships and connections.
The keywords for the King of Cups are: Emotionally balanced, compassionate, and diplomatic.
The King of Cups represents mastery over the realms of emotion, creativity and the unconscious. When this card turns up in a Tarot reading, you have gained control of your feelings and can accept them without allowing them to get the better of you. Even when life throws you a curve ball, you can draw on your emotional maturity and stability to help you navigate these challenges. You don’t let things get to you, and you steer clear of the drama, instead choosing an emotionally balanced and calm approach.
If you are being challenged personally, the King of Cups suggests you need to remain emotionally mature when faced with negative energy from others. Stay true to your emotions and feelings and do not allow others to steer you off course.
The King of Cups embodies the perfect balance between the executive and the heart. Not only are you able to assess and manage a situation logically, but you can also draw upon your intuition and understanding of human interactions. As a leader, you care as much about achieving your goals and objectives as you do about making sure everyone is happy and engaged along the way. If you sense that logic and emotion are out of balance, draw on the energy of this King to realign yourself.
As a King, he has a masculine, fatherly energy, and as a Cups card, he brings his emotional self to the forefront. He offers wise advice when it comes to feelings, emotions, creativity and relationships and can see the human dynamic in its entirety. The King of Cups is compassionate towards others, creating strong bonds and relationships based on patience and understanding. As you interact with others, you may need to navigate their strong feelings and emotional triggers so you can create a sense of peace in your interactions. He may appear in your life as a mentor, coach or spiritual guide; or you may step into this role yourself.
I’ve always related to this card to a person (male or female) in my life, but this time and in my current life situation, I see a lot of what I need to incorporate into myself in the King. He is calm, self-assured, logical and balanced. Those are all qualities I strive for and sometimes achieve. How about you? Does this card speak to you in some way?
Thank you for joining me! See you next Tuesday for another inspiring message from the Universe via the Tarot Cards!
As always, I use the Rider-Waite Radiance deck and BiddyTarot.com for interpretations.
I really love this! I am just learning about the tarot cards and I really want to learn them more and fully. I had several sets I got for their artfulness, and I gave them to my paraplegic friend who loves and understands them better than I do. Now I need to get some of my own. Thank you so much for this. I really enjoyed it.

This card is very timely again… like most of your Tuesday picks are. The King of Cups represents kind of all of his aspects in my life. I can see myself in it in particular situations. But currently, like you, I know that I am called to incorporate not allowing to let the circumstances control my happiness and to bring balance into my thoughts and emotions. I know that I need to find a way to detach from feelings of fear and overwhelm which I know are completely homemade. Awesome card and a wonderful confirmation of my direction. Thank you for doing these posts, Jan.
Btw. I watched you pick a card. I like how you did that.
Thank you, Erika, for your kind words! I do completely trust the Angels to give me the card that will resonate with most and it never fails. The King of Cups is necessary for dealing with a lot of aspects of life and here’s to finding balance, calmness, and logic!! Thank you for your comment!
You are a wonderful channel, Jan. Wonderful healing aspects of that card.
Reblogged this on GrannyMoon's Morning Feast.
Thank you for the reblog, Granny Moon!
All through my 40+ years in business the King of Cups (didn’t know it then) was my mentor. I always needed to demonstrate maturity beyond what I felt inside. Once retired, I gave my internal child the opportunity to cut loose. I think I will always be grateful to the king of cups for support during the years where it counted to be an adult.
What a beautiful testimony, John. It just goes to prove that the Universe gives us the support we need at the right time, whether we know it or not. 🙂 Here’s to your internal child! Thanks for stopping by!
Thank you, Jan. 😁
Reblogged this on Campbells World.
Thank you for the reblog, Patty!
You’re very welcome. It’s my pleasure.
Definitely what I’m looking for right now:)
You and me both, Denise! I pray that we find it and draw it out of ourselves!
You and me both, Denise! I can always use a good dose of calm balance and logic. Thanks so much for stopping by!
This is my journey, Jan! Thanks for sharing this with us. Cheers, my friend! 🙂
How incredibly wonderful, Natalie! Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment!
Jan, a fascinating post and I’m taken with all the meaning behind the card! It encompasses so many traits, all which lead to a well-rounded person!
I agree, Annika. This King is very inspiring!
Another excellent reading, Jan. I love the focus on balance. Thanks so much1
We can all use a good dose of balance now and then, Gwen! Thanks so much!
There are times I could definitely be more calm and self-assured. Those are qualities I need to work on.
I’m always looking at the details on these cards, and was drawn to the water beneath the throne. There’s a solid block/base on a fluid element. I’m wondering if the sea is turbulence and the base the element to crush it or bring it under control….which ties in exactly with what you described.
Great observation, Mae! Here’s what Biddy Tarot has to say about that: The King of Cups appears to be floating on a granite block in the middle of a turbulent sea. Behind him on his right, a fish jumps out of the ocean, while on the left, a ship sails steadily despite the waves. These images show that this King stays calm and balanced, even in turbulent conditions, and has learned how to stay open to his emotions and unconscious impulses, without being overwhelmed by them. He keeps power and control while balancing his feelings. So, you were right on with your observation! Thanks so much for stopping by!
Very cool! I love looking at the images and trying to read into them. This makes a lot of sense the way it’s depicted!
Good to have this guy show up. Yesterday was a monday for sure.
He’s always a good guy to have in your corner! Happy Tuesday!
