#TarotTuesday – The Emperor

Welcome to another Tarot Tuesday!

If you are just joining me, let me explain the inspiration to begin these posts. In Texas, and all across the country, Taco Tuesday is a popular day when Tacos are usually 99 cents. So, I had the inspiration, or Angel nudge as I like to think of it, to create a Tarot Tuesday. Each Tuesday I will post a different Tarot card and give its meaning. I pray and ask for the right card that will bring a universal message.

Looks like we finally get a break from all the Wands. 🙂 Today we have a card from the Major Arcana – The Emperor!

The keywords for The Emperor are: Authority, establishment, structure, or a father figure.

I studied this card for a long time before going forward. He has a tough exterior and in some ways seems unapproachable. He represents a father figure. The mountains behind him indicate a solid foundation, but the trickling stream also indicates he is still an emotional being, it just may take a lot of digging and trust to open up his softer side. Interesting to me that he is cutting his eyes to his right side, which going with the right brain/left brain theory, he is looking to the creative, subjective and thoughtful side. Somehow, that also balances out his tough exterior. I think it is also noteworthy to point out that he is wearing a suit of armor under his robes. He is invincible.

The Emperor represents a powerful leader who demands respect and authority. Status, power and recognition are essential to him, and he is most comfortable in a leadership role where he can command and direct others. As a leader, he rules with a firm but fair hand.

If the card represents you, it indicates that you have a clear vision of what you want to create, and you organize those around you to manifest your goal. You listen to the advice of others, but you prefer to have the final say. Conflict doesn’t scare you, and you won’t hesitate to use your power to protect those you care about. In return, those people will repay you with the loyalty and respect you deserve. Claim your authority as leader and influencer and don’t let others put you down.

The Emperor reflects a system bound by rules and regulations. You create law and order by applying principles or guidelines to a specific situation. You have the ability to create calm out of chaos by breaking down any problem into its parts and then mapping out the actions you need to take to resolve it.

The Emperor card also signifies world knowledge and expertise. Through the course of your life, you have gained valuable wisdom and life experience, and now you enjoy offering guidance, advice, and direction to someone who might benefit from it. You may be a teacher, coach, boss, or just a good friend who likes to take what you have learned and pass it on to others.

I can’t say that this card resonated with me on a personal level, except for the last paragraph. I do love to pass on any bits of wisdom I’ve learned in my lifetime of mistakes and missteps. How about you? Do you relate to this card?

Thank you for joining me! See you next Tuesday for another inspiring message from the Universe via the Tarot Cards!

As always, I use the Rider-Waite Radiance deck and BiddyTarot.com for interpretations.

  1. There are parts of this card I can relate to. Like you, I do like to pass on to others what I’ve learned. I also feel that I would use whatever power I had to protect those I love, and I do listen to the advice of others, but I prefer to have the final say. Sorry––not sorry. 😉 Always fascinating, Jan!

    1. What a great comment, Vashti! I just love it when a card resonates in more than one area of life! Thank you SO much for stopping by and adding your thoughts! Hugs!

  2. Good post, Jan. I can relate to the card as a symbol of giving advice and guidance to those who might benefit from it. Much of what little I know came from people who acted as mentors, so now is the time to pass it on.

    1. That is a great point, Rob! I think it’s our duty to pass on hard lessons we’ve learned through life. I am happy you stopped by for #TarotTuesday!

  3. This card is fascinating, Jan. I’m aligned with some qualities, but not all. It’s so interesting to read and reflect on, though. Thanks a bunch for sharing this series. Cool stuff! 🙂

    1. I agree, Natalie! I think we can each find something in every card that we can relate to. Thank you so much for your support of this series! Hugs!

  4. Cool choice, Jan, and it does resonate with me as I’m heading up a huge arts project in my town. I guess the warning side (I always look for that guidance) is not to be too bossy! Ha ha. Thanks for the reading!

    1. Lol, Diana! But, as someone pointed out above, we need Emperors in the world or else nothing would ever get done! So, here’s to the ones who make it all happen! Thanks for stopping by and wishes for great success with the arts project!!

  5. That final paragraph resonates with me. I have to smile at times when folks tell me how tough I am. Inside i’m pure marshmallow. Let’s keep that our secret. lol. 💕😊 Great post, my friend.

    1. Your secret is safe with me, Soooz! 🙂 What happens on Jan’s blog stays on Jan’s blog. 🙂 I appreciate you stopping by!! Hugs!

    1. They don’t always apply to everyone, sister. I felt much the same way when I pulled it, but I am committed to going with whatever card pops out and it was this one. I figure there will be someone it will resonate with. Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you have a safe and fun trip! I love you!

  6. I related to this card in a prior life. Now not so much. I lead a much more solitary life and find that when I’m with others I would rather learn from them.

    1. Great comment, John! I do believe we transition through different phases as we live our lives. I too, love to learn from others. Thank you so much for stopping by today!

  7. I can relate to the last paragraph as well, but much of the rest would be too restrictive and regimental to describe me. And I HATE conflict, LOL. But I have been told I’m a great listener and teacher 🙂

    1. Exactly, Mae. And perhaps The Emperor reminds of someone in your life or he could be a great character for a story! 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment today!

The last paragraph made the most sense like you said. I find him kind of imposing and someone I might avoid. I keep thinking judgement. Although I probably create my own rules that weigh me down this was an interesting reaction to this card. Thanks, Jan.

    1. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Denise. I agree that he is imposing and someone who might be intimidating. But, when I looked closer, I could see that despite his tough exterior, he has an emotional heart. And, you’re right about creating our own rules. We can only view through our own lenses. 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs!

    1. Was that in “Yak Guy,” Craig? I still have that book on my Kindle and need to read it! I’m glad you stopped by and that you enjoyed today’s card! Have a great day!

  10. Good morning Jan- I’m not sure if this card totally represents me. There are some qualities I see, but many that I don’t. I do however for some reason, I’m not real sure why: I’ve always been a person people come too with their problems. Even people I’m not very familiar with have called on me. It still baffles me. Like you said I can only give them advise on what I’ve learned both good and bad in life.
    Thanks for sharing. Love you!!

    1. That is so true, Tonya. There is an openness about you that allows people to feel free to confide in you and that’s a special quality. I’m so glad you stopped by and left your comment. I hope you have a great day! Love you too!
