From the first page to the last, this book was non-stop suspense and action. And while this is book three in a series, I never felt lost or that I was missing anything. The author put in just the right amount of backstory.

Madison and her partner, Jonas, work for the U.S. Marshal’s office. Their job is to find things lost or hidden, as Madison often reminds herself throughout the book.

There are three major plot threads running through this story and the author did a great job of giving the right amount of focus to each one. At times, I wondered how she would bring them all together and what relevance they all had to each other. We have Madison who has been trying for the past five years to uncover who murdered her husband. She cannot move on in life and explore the attraction that flares between her and Jonas until she has the answer. She won’t put him in jeopardy.

Then we have a judge whose life is threatened by a hard-hitting crime organization, his wife who is now dead, and a mistress who is the mother of his son, on the run, accused of the wife’s murder. Lastly, we have a character in the witness protection program who is found and captured by another top-level crime organization.

As the story unfolds, the author did a fabulous job of bringing everything together. I loved how she let both Madison and Jonas gently unfold their growing feelings for each other while working tirelessly to bring down the bad guys.

This book is sold as Christian Fiction and that is another Kudo I want to give to the author. She wove in subtle references to faith, but nothing that is off-putting or preachy. It is a great story from start to finish with a surprise twist at the end that I did not see coming.

I highly recommend this book if you are a fan of high-octane action and suspense mingled with a hint of romance.

  2. Thanks for sharing the book and your review, Jan. It sounds exciting and great that it can be read as a stand-alone, though I rarely do that on purpose. Many congrats to Lisa on the tour and wonderful review. 🙂

  3. I love that this is the third book in the series and yet you didn’t feel lost, Jan.
It sounds like there is a lot going on in the story to make it a compelling read. Great review. Thanks for sharing!

    1. I couldn’t figure out how the author was going to bring the different plot threads together, but she did and the twist at the end was something I did not see coming. Thanks for stopping by today, Mae!
