Happy Friday! We made it to the end of the week. I hope it’s been a productive one for you.
I am super excited to be listening to the first seven chapters of my upcoming new release, The Edge of Too Late. This is a new experience, as none of my other books are in audiobook format yet. Hearing the words and story you created brought to life in spoken form is exhilarating. I always thought it would be too expensive to do this, and it used to be. But it has gotten more affordable as a larger number of narrators have started to participate.
I first put up a 500-word sample from the book on ACX for narrators to audition. I got over twenty auditions, and it was super hard to choose a reader. But I’m happy with my choice, and I hope fans of audiobooks will like the production. The book will be released as an eBook, print, and audiobook on 11-28-23!
In other bookish news, I am working my way through the copy edits for A Beggar’s Bargain. The more I work with the story, the more I fall in love with the characters, the plot, and even the dog. 🙂 It will be published in March 2024. As soon as I finish this round of edits, I’ll go back to the second book in the series and move it forward. Sometimes, it’s hard to be patient.
Yet, I’ve had a big lesson in patience as I let my foot heal from the surgery. I returned to work this week, but honestly, a couple of days were really hard, and I cried all the way home in pain. It is what it is, and once I was off of the foot and had it propped up, the pain went away. So, it’s a slow process. However, it’s only been three weeks since the surgery. Can I admit patience is not my strong suit?
One of my greatest joys in life and the one and only reason I live in this huge metropolis is because of my family. When my husband died, I knew the only thing that could begin to fill that void was my daughters and their children. At the time he passed, I had only one grandson (who is now 17). Now, I have three grandsons and two granddaughters. This week, my youngest granddaughter dressed up as a historical character for Living History Day at school. Samantha is Thomas Edison. 🙂
And this evening, I get to go watch my oldest granddaughter participate in a play production at the high school. She is Pua in the play Moana. I’m sure I’ll have photos to share later.
That’s it for today. I wish everyone a wonderful weekend. The weather has turned wet and chilly here, so other than the Moana play, I plan to hibernate, work on edits, listen to the audiobook chapters, and read.
