Friday Free For All – Surgery update – spooky read

Happy Friday. This has been a week of being still and letting my foot start to heal from the surgery. I have had to draw on whatever small amount of patience I have to stay put.

I am happy to report that my foot is healing and that I’ve had a minimal amount of pain, for which I am most grateful. I saw the surgeon on Tuesday for the first follow-up and she was very pleased with the outcome, and the way the healing is progressing. This photo shows what it looked like when she removed the bandage.

There wasn’t a whole lot of swelling and all things considered, the bruising is minimal. So, another full week of not putting any weight on the foot, and then I can begin to walk short distances. I go back on November 4th to have the stitches removed. All-in-all, things are going well.

If you missed it I was a guest on Teri Polen’s Bad Moon Rising blog post this week and I had so much fun! https://teripolen.com/2023/10/25/badmoonrising-the-edge-of-too-late-harbor-pointe-5-by-jan-sikes-ghost-paranormal-suspense/

Halloween is fast approaching and I have the perfect book for the season!

Does Claire Winters go too far when she seeks the ultimate revenge? Or is it a simple matter of destiny? The decision is up to you.

I have to jump in here and add the link to Robbie Cheadle’s blog post today where she has reviews for both GHOSTLY INTERFERENCE and VOODOO OR DESTINY! Thank you, Robbie! A reminder- if you haven’t yet pre-ordered your copy of The Edge of Too Late, it is releasing in a month! I’d be most grateful if you’d place your order! Know anyone who might like this book, this series? Pass it along!

I haven’t done much on my WIP yet, but hoping to get the creative urge soon. The only issue is that I can’t sit at my computer, but I do have my laptop. So, no excuses.

I got the copy edits back on A Beggar’s Bargain! I haven’t opened them yet for the same reason as above. There is no way I want to tackle copy edits on this laptop screen. 🙂 Patience. That’s what I keep telling myself.

I am most grateful for all of your support through this ordeal. It has been a challenge, but I can do this. I have lots to be thankful for.

Thanks for visiting!

Happy Halloween! This is me trying to work. 🙂

  1. Whoaaaaa–what a great GIF! My wife had foot surgery three years ago or so–one like yours plus two more on the same foot at the same time. Used a knee roller for a few months. Yours should be much quicker.

    1. I loved the GIF, too, John. 🙂 I am using the knee roller but thankfully I am halfway through. Another week and I can begin to walk a little. Hope your wife fully recovered. Thanks for visiting!

  2. Hi,
Stop worrying about your writing and let your foot heal. That injury looks bad but it could have been worse. Now you have the time to read and gather up ideas for your work in progress.
All the best and take care.
    Shalom shalom

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Pat, and for the words of encouragement. Everything is healing nicely and I am so thankful for that. I have been reading a lot and that’s been super fun. Also caught up on a few other things I’ve been putting off for a while. All is well. I am happy to be one week into the healing process. Have a good weekend!

  3. So happy your foot is healing, Jan:) It is hard to not move around but worth it! The skeleton made me laugh. That sums up my week…lol healing hugs xo

    1. It is a chore to move around and do even the smallest chores, as I am sure you can remember from when you had to deal with your broken bone. But I am managing. Today is one week. I loved that skeleton. It made me laugh. Thanks for visiting, Denise!

    1. Hi, Erika. There was a bone out of place in my left foot that was causing all sorts of problems, so the surgeon pinned it and hopefully that fixes the problem. Thanks for visiting!

      1. Oh, that sounds very uncomfortable. Now I understand your comment to today’s Daily Kind Quote a lot better. I am glad all went well and that the healing goes on well too. Wishing you a good progress for your foot, Jan ?

  4. Voodoo or Destiny was a fun read, Jan. A perfect book for the season. I’m glad the foot is healing well so far. Follow the doc’s orders and enjoy the time to write! Happy Friday.

    1. Thank you, Diana. I’m glad you enjoyed Voodoo or Destiny. It was a fun story to write. I am definitely following doctor’s orders and not putting any weight on the foot. One week down. One week to go. I’ve gotten a lot of loose ends tied up and things caught up this week. Now back to my WIP!

      1. I’m laughing at myself. Edits! (Of course, I wouldn’t work on an audit either.)

Can I blame that one on not having enough caffeine in my system when I wrote it?

  5. Glad your foot is healing nicely, Jan, and hope you are soon able to walk in full comfort again. Here’s to a great Friday and a wonderful (healing) weekend ahead! ?❤️?
