Monday Meanderings #15

Hello, everyone in blog land. April is sliding past us very rapidly and soon it will be full on summer. I’m sharing this photo I took when I had the incredible opportunity to attend a writer’s conference in Ireland two years ago. It was a wonderful path to meander down.

This past week has been one of ups and downs, which I know is not unusual for recovering from surgery. I felt really good on Tuesday and my grandson took me to the grocery story since he was in town for a few days. He’s almost finished with his first year of college, and he got a job at the university for the summer, so he won’t be coming home. Anyway, I digress. I bought fresh strawberries at the store. They had a buy one, get one free sale, and they looked good. I washed them thoroughly, then ate some on Wednesday and was sick for the next two days. I am convinced they were contaminated and have tossed them. My daughter brought me some healing soup and Sprite on Thursday and I finally started to feel better. She also brought me these beautiful flowers to brighten my day.

Going forward, I will buy no fresh produce that isn’t organic. It’s not worth it.

I plan to return to work today. Maybe not full steam ahead, but slowly ease back into it.

I’m getting a crash course in what to do when your publisher closes the doors. Getting my books back is definitely a multi-step process and it’s going slowly. If you look for either of my Bargainer Series Ebooks, they are separated from the print books right now on Amazon. Not sure how I’ll get them together, but I’m stubborn and staying the course until everything is back as it should be. All of that may delay my next book release, but I’m still hoping for sometime in June. I’m not going to rush it.

I missed getting to spend Easter with the grandkids. It was the first time in fifteen years that I missed one. But my daughter shared some pictures. I’ll make up for it next year.

The three boys on the left side are my grandsons and the two little girls in the middle are my granddaughters. The others are friends and neighbors.

I’ve read a lot of really great books while I’ve been recuperating and will share my reviews soon. I love getting lost in a good story!

I don’t know if any you are familiar with bestselling author, Jodi Thomas, but she is a very dear friend of my sister and I. She has had the wonderful good fortune of getting a series of her books turned into a Netflix show. If you are so inclined, I highly recommend Ransom Canyon! Isn’t it so uplifting when this happens to someone you know? Jodi has been publishing books for well over fifty years and this is so well-deserved!

I loved this bit of inspiration.

I pulled a card for the week and here’s what I got.

The two of cups often symbolizes a partnership of some kind. We see two people meeting with many symbols on the card of balance and harmony. It could be a work opportunity, a deepening of a spiritual practice, or a new romance. I don’t see how this applies to my life right now, but who knows? The week is young. Maybe it will resonate with someone.

That’s it. I hope you all have a good week ahead.

  1. Congrats to Jodi for getitng the series – and wow – that is amazing when someone when we know has these opportunities. Also, I heard strawberries – and all berries, are the kind of fruit to always go organic with – and how sad that such tasty berries backfired and made you sick – not fair!

  2. I’m glad you’re recovering from the Surgery, Jan, but upset about the problem with the strawberries. It’s good your family is helping you. I think you can link your eBooks and paperbacks online at the Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing site. Next to the promote and advertise button is a button with three dots that contains that choice.

  3. Oh, I am sorry you ate the “wrong” strawberries. But I am glad you are doing better again. I am also glad that you are recovering well. I hope everything works out with your books. The card spoke to me regarding the company I work for instantly. Last week I said to my boss how thankful I was that they found me 💖

    1. I love your comment, Erika. I am so glad the card resonates with you. I never know and always go with what I am given. Thank you for visiting!

  4. Hi Jan, recovery definitely has ups and downs. I’m still getting headaches. I have a check up tomorrow and will ask about them. Recovery also takes longer the older you are. I like this card. It has relevance for me as TC and I are going on adventure this coming weekend.

    1. I’m sorry to hear your recovery is going slow, Robbie, but you are right about getting older. Everything takes longer to heal. I’m so glad you could resonate with the card. Have a wonderful adventure with your hubby!!

  5. Strawberries are one of the dirty dozen, Jan, so organic is the way to go. I’m sorry you had that set back. And the glitch with your books is a pain, but I’m sure you’ll figure it out. It just takes time and patience and lots of deep breathing.
My brother is a background actor in New Mexico, and he’s in Ransom Canyon! Just look for the bald guy in the group scenes. Lol. That is so cool that it’s based on Jodi’s book! I love all these little connections and it feels like a celebration every time one of our “community’s” books turn into film.
I hope you’re feeling better and better every day. Hugs. <3 <3

    1. Oh, how awesome Diana! I love all the little connections, too. I will definitely look for him. 🙂 And yes, it just feels like a win for us all when anyone in our community achieves a level of success!

  6. Sister, you’ve certainly had a time lately and you’ve been buried beneath this unexpected deluge of problems but you’ll dig yourself out. Please, please go slow and continue to get plenty of rest. You are important to me and so many others. Remember that. Wishing you lots of good luck in straightening out this mess. I’ll help all I can. The Tarot card isn’t for me either. Loved the Emerson quote.

    1. Thank you for visiting, sister. I promise I will go slow and not overdo it. But it’s time to rejoin the land of the living. 🙂 Love you so much and thank you for all you do to support me!!

  7. I would love to walk that path in Ireland. It looks so peaceful. I’m glad you are feeling better, Jan. I do everything I can to only eat organic, but it isn’t always easy or possible. Love the tarot card this week! I’ve been fostering my friend groups lately, so I’m going to connect it with that.

    1. Walking that path in Ireland was one of the most beautiful experiences of this lifetime, Yvette. I agree about eating organic. I’m so glad you resonate with the card and hope the friends group thrives!! Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment!

  8. Yours was strawberries, mine was blueberries a couple weeks ago. Food poisoning is no fun. Beautiful flowers from your daughter! Glad to hear you’re on the mend, Jan.

    1. It’s no joke our food supply is tainted, Teri. I will only buy organic from now on. It’s not foolproof, but maybe better chances? Thank you for stopping by! Have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Craig. I won’t overdo it. I’m learning to pace myself at what’s comfortable. It was nice to return to Ireland for a minute, even through a photo. A beautiful country I’d love to go back to.

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
