MONDAY MEANDERINGS #31 – 2026

I am doing a happy dance for the blessed rain we received this past week! It’s a welcome break from the brutal heat and long drought. I’m sure we’ll have some hot days ahead here and there, but it feels like the spell is broken.

I am so thrilled to have gotten “Painting Christmas” up for pre-order. It’s a very short time before I publish, but it all feels right. I owe a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has pre-ordered.

I am deeply grateful for all the support.

I’ll be sharing my September reviews this week and have something unusual to tell you about. 🙂

I learned something new last week about a change in Facebook policy. After I posted an announcement for the new Christmas book and included the pre-order link, a message popped up telling me I only had two more links to use for the entire month of October and that it would reset November 1st. What??? Yep. It’s a new policy. Unless you pay to be Meta Verified, you are limited to only sharing two links per month. If you pay for an ad, the limit doesn’t apply. But otherwise, it does. And, of course, it costs money to get Meta Verified. I haven’t even looked to see how much. Ugh! The workaround is to post the link in the first comment. Still, it’s frustrating. Have any of you experienced this yet? I swear things are always changing. Just when I think I have something figured out, it’s different.

My daughter is away on a work trip this week, so me and the son-in-law will have to tag-team to get the girls everywhere they need to go. Should be fun. 🙂

I worked three days in the store last week, so that consumed a lot of my time. Other than that, it was a pretty mild week (at least for me).

My phone and internet provider is T-Mobile. I discovered I can get some things for free or discounted through my plan. Therefore, I am no longer paying for Netflix, and I found I could subscribe to Apple TV for only $3.00 per month. So, I started watching the new Brothers show with Matthew McConoughey and Woody Harrelson. I’ve only seen a couple of episodes and honestly don’t know if I’ll keep watching it. We’ll see. I watch so little TV, it needs to be entertaining, if I give up my reading time for it. Any Apple TV shows you recommend?

Two friends have new books coming out soon. You may or may not have seen these already, but wanted to share. I am a big fan of both of these authors.

Can’t wait for both of these!

I just loved this quote when I saw it. I often wonder where those “hunches” or “nudges” come from.

I chose to open a deck of cards I haven’t visited in quite some time and this is the card I got. I believe this with all my heart.

I truly do believe we are all here on planet earth to learn, grow and become better. Challenges are what enhance that growth. While they may be uncomfortable, if we lean into them, we can come out on the other side a bit stronger and hopefully wiser.

That’s it for me for today. I’ll share my reviews later this week when I get a minute to breathe.

  1. It’ so nice to hear that your book, Denise’s book, and Staci’s book are all up for preorder, Jan. Congratulations to you, Denise, and Staci! It’s good that you got the link for your book posted on Facebook.

  2. About the weather, same here. It has been very hot and dry for at least a couple of months but now we got lots of rain and cooler temperatures. I saw that your new book is now availab;e for preorder. Congratulations! I did not know about this new Meta restriction. That is frustrating.

    1. Thank you for stopping by, Thomas. If I remember right, you don’t live too far from me so we are experiencing the same weather. Thank you for the book congratulations all the way around.

  3. I was unaware of the Facebook change. In a similar vein, I’m tired of so many things going to streaming services. We’ve got a couple, but I’m done paying for any more. That’s interesting about the workaround because I’ve seen that move on a lot of Facebook posts lately. I’m sure it won’t be long before Facebook puts an end to that too.

    1. I agree, Pete. I’m tired of everything constantly changing, and not for the better. Everything is a money-grab. I will stay on Facebook because it’s where I keep up with friends and family I don’t otherwise see. But I’m not paying them any money. I wonder, too, how long it will be before they stop the link sharing in the comments. Ugh! Thank you for visiting!

    1. Thanks for visiting, John. I am somewhat disappointed in Brothers. But it is what it is. I can always choose not to watch anymore. 🙂 I am still active on Facebook as it allows me to keep up with family and friends I don’t see often, but I’ll be damned if I pay them any money to share a link to a book. 🙂

  4. That’s interesting. I have not received such a message by Facebook yet. I am leaving a link every week, but no message so far.
However, enjoy the time with your grandkids and thanks for sharing this confirming oracle card. Have a great week Jan!

    1. Maybe it’s just Facebook users in the U.S. Who knows? I just know I got the pop-up message, then explored it further. So glad you enjoyed the oracle card. It spoke to me. I appreciate you taking the time to visit and leave a comment, Erika!

  5. Hurray for your rain! Thank you for explaining what the whole “link in the comments” thing is all about. The day I have to pay for Facebook is the day I’m outa there.

  6. Hi Jan, and good to hear that you too have been doing the happy dance of the returned rain that I was doing not that long ago. May it continue for as long as you need. As to the Meta rule, I hadn’t heard of that, but I don’t post much on Facebook these days, and I’ve been putting the link in the comments for a while. I also put IQ codes on book ads that I make on Canva, so that gets round it too (for those who use IQ codes). As to Apple TV, I can heartily recommend ‘Silo’ – about a community of 10,000 living in an underground silo after some sort of presumably nuclear attack. ‘For All Mankind’ on the other hand concerns the space race from its early days – but with a twist which I won’t disclose. The good news is that both have several series already on there; the bad news is that there are more series to come for both, and for which we have to wait. We loved them though, so will be patient. Thanks for sharing all your news, and hope things go well for you. 🙂

    1. Oh, thanks for that recommendation, Laura. I am a big fan of dystopian and Silo sounds perfect. I often wonder. Is it really fiction, or prophesy? Guess we’ll eventually find out. Thank you so much for stopping by today!

      1. You’re welcome, Jan. I think writers of such works think they’re writing fiction which could be prophecy, but hope it won’t be. It’s our collective wish that these ideas don’t come true!

  7. Yay for rain! I hope it sticks around for you. Thanks for sharing my preorder here! Much appreciated! I can’t wait to reads Painting Christmas and Staci’s latest. Xo

    1. I am happy to share your new book and how funny that we both shared each other’s books on the same day. 🙂 Thank you for that as well. The rain was wonderful! Thank you for visiting!

  8. I didn’t know that about the links. Don’t they have enough $$ already? I have several Apple shows to recommend – Shrinking, Widow’s Bay, Silo, Ted Lasso (probably my fav), Your Friends and Neighbors, Severance, Dark Matter. You’re really getting a deal with $3/month.

    1. Thanks so much, Teri. In answer to your FB question. I’d say YES!! 🙂 I agree I am getting a great deal at $3 per month for Apple TV. I’ll check out the shows you recommended.

  9. Congrats on getting your book up for pre-order, Jan. I hadn’t heard about the link limitations on Facebook, but it doesn’t surprise me. I wonder if it counts as a link if you share someone’s blog post That would be truly disappointing. Facebook does so little to actually help people connect with their friends. If I didn’t have some friends who are only on Facebook, I’d leave and not look back.

Good luck with the tag-team effort. I hope the kids go generally in the same direction. I like that quote very much.

    1. I don’t know if the new Facebook rule applies to shared posts or just organic posts. I’ll have to investigate. I agree with you about leaving Facebook. I will stay because of family and friends I keep up with through Facebook. And, I have had moderate success with book ads in the past. Social Media just sucks. Thanks for the good wishes. I appreciate you chiming in!

  10. Congratulations, Jan! I’m really so happy to hear that one of your books is now up for pre-order! You have my full support. And also congrats to the authors of two books!

I don’t watch Apple TV, Netflix, and the likes of them as I’m unable to subscribe due to sanctions that are imposed on my country Syria that I hope they get lifted soon, but I watch local satellite television. So, I don’t have recommendations for any Apple TV shows. Sorry about that.

Have a very lovely day! ☺️

    1. Hello, Aptivi. Thank you for your congratulations about Painting Christmas! And I’m glad you found the two books from my friends interesting. I totally understand about TV. I rarely watch TV, but wanted to see what all the hype about Brothers was. 🙂 Thanks for visiting!

      1. You’re most welcome, Jan! I agree, they’re really interesting. That’s great! Me too, I often don’t watch TV, because I would be working on my projects, but I watch some at night. My pleasure! ☺️
