Monday Meanderings #34

Hello, friends! It’s Monday again. Did last week fly by or what? It did for me.

When my husband was alive, he’d often take my hands in his and say, “these little hands do so much.” I never appreciated that small gesture as much as I should have. There were lots of little things I took for granted, but that’s all part of being human.

For my entire working life, I held office jobs. So, I was always typing away, either on a calculator, typewriter or computer. As a result, I now have a constant pain in my right hand. Still, there is so much to be done and I have to carry on. I’m always looking for natural ways to lessen the pain so I can keep doing what I love. I recently discovered an essential oil blend that has pretty much blown my mind. The minute I applied it, the pain went way. Seriously! Completely left. As a disclaimer, I have absolutely no vested interest in this company, but this product works. If you suffer from pain, I highly recommend giving it a try. Of course, I have to keep reapplying it throughout the day, but it works (at least for me).

TAKE A LOOK

I’m pretty sure I’ve said before that I live in an apartment. I’ve been here eight years already. They recently built a new complex next door. I’ve gone twice to look at the new apartments and I think I’ve decided I will move. There are several reasons, but the main ones being that they are new, clean and all the appliances are upgrades. The complex where I currently live has gone downhill, especially within the last year. The hallways are filthy and things are not being maintained. Yet, the thought of moving gives me a headache. The new apartment would be smaller, therefore I’d have to downsize even more. Such a dilemma. Oh, and another thing about the new apartments, they require each tenant to use Spectrum internet. I’ve had T-Mobile internet for a couple of years and love the price AND the functionality. So, I’ll have to give it all more thought, but I’m leaning heavily toward moving. I have until December 1st to decide.

Authors, I have a question. I finished my read-through of Ghostly Interference, and there were times I sat back and took a deep breath. Did I really write all those words? It felt like reading someone else’s work. Granted, it’s been five years since I published it, but still. There were scenes that made me laugh, some that made me cry and some that gave me goosebumps. It’s a strange feeling to realize I really did write that. Has that ever happened to you?

I’ve moved on to reading Jagged Feathers. I’m hoping to have these books back up by the end of November.

My daughter and son-in-law are off on their annual anniversary trip, so I am responsible for the girls and two dogs until they get back. Forgive me if my online presence is limited. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly.

I love this quote. I like to think of them as Angel nudges. 🙂

Here is our Tarot thought for the week.

The main keyword associated with this card is abundance. It indicates having more than enough. I don’t know about you, but my bank account is not often sitting on the abundance side, so I had to pause and really think about this. Here’s what I know. Abundance comes in more than the form of money. It is also representative of family, as you can see in the image. There is a child and even two dogs and the whole nuance of the card is love. Therefore, it also represents love within the family that is most supportive of your life. It invites to spend time with people you love. On the money side of the card, it can indicate an inheritance or at the very least stability. However the card speaks to you is the correct.

That’s all for today. I wish each of you a great week ahead. Thank you for visiting!

  • Moving is a challenge. I pray you have wisdom in your decision. I’m glad you found an essential oil that helps your hand pain. I hope your daughter and SIL have a wonderful trip!

I can definitely see the appeal in moving to an upgraded apartment, Jan, but I also get the reluctance with Spectrum aka Spawn of Satan. We have them for internet but only because there are no other options. Glad you discovered the essential oil! I’ll have to mention it to my mom since she also has hand pain.

    • I hate being forced into a carrier. I prefer to have a choice. I had Spectrum before I moved over to T-Mobile and it was more than twice as expensive as T-Mobile. I also hate that these carriers basically penalize you for staying with them instead of rewarding good customers. We shall see how it all shakes out. Yes! Definitely tell your mom about the essential oil blend. It works well for me. Thank you for stopping by!

  • Jan, I know you’ll make the right decision about moving and you know the kids will help. But it is a daunting prospect for sure. I just hate moving. It is so stressful. I think you’ll find downsizing will bring you such relief. That oil must be a miracle. I’m really glad it works. We all have abundance for sure and it does come in many forms. Love you, Sister.

    • Jan Sikes says:

Thank you, sister. And yes, the kids will help should I decide to move. I definitely am sold on the oil. It really does work to help my hand feel better. You’re so right about abundance. We tend to think only in terms of money, but there is so much more. I’m happy you stopped by!

WE FEAR CHANGE. Tee hee — I hear ya on the move. Pros and cons for sure. I swear, what keeps us in our way-too-big house now that we’re empty nesters (other than it being paid-off) is my dread at being the one to clean-out every square inch of it. I get chills thinking about doing the attic. You’ll come to the right decision. So will we. And abundance does apply to many things other than our bank accounts. I focus on the abundance of friendships and family love in my life, even when other things aren’t looking so rosy.

    • Jan Sikes says:

We do tend to fear change, don’t we? When I was younger I wouldn’t have given moving a second thought. But now that I’m older, I pause and think. I’m going to make a list of the pros and cons and see which side weighs heavier. 🙂 I know what you mean about having to clean out every square inch of your home. When Rick passed way, we owned three houses, a recording studio, music store and several out buildings all on the same property. Cleaning out was a chore I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I drank a lot of vodka and cranberry juice through it. 🙂 Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment, dear lady!

  • I’ve moved 22 times so I’m the wrong one to ask. I say go for it even though Spectrum is the worst provider.

    • Jan Sikes says:

You are a seasoned pro, John! 🙂 It irks me to be told I have no choice about who I want as my internet carrier. I want to make my own decisions. Thanks for stopping by!

  • That’s interesting that the new apartment requires Spectrum. My sis uses it, likes it fine. No cable I guess…

    • Jan Sikes says:

I haven’t had cable TV since 2009 and haven’t missed it. I have an Amazon Fire Stick that requires internet. All I need is internet. I find it interesting that they are forcing residents to switch to Spectrum. Seems a bit strange to me. I prefer to make my own choice.

  • Moving has almost always been a real challenge for me, Jan, but I’ve never moved to another apartment close by. Make the best decision you can come up with. So nice that your daughter and son-in-law are having a nice trip for their anniversary.

  • Dan Antion says:

Moving is a big step. I don’t like being told what choice I have to make when there are choices. The other factors you mention might outweigh that. As for reading and re-reading. I have had that happen. In fact, I re-read my books a few times before letting them go, and if I don’t get some of those feelings. I worry. I think what you’re feeling means you did a good job.

  • D.L. Finn, Author says:

Moving is never fun, but I know you will end up where you are supposed to be! I may try that for my hands foot, and wrist. It had some ingredients I’ve been eyeing, thanks for sharing. I’ve been thinking about abundance a lot lately. Like you, I wished it would show up in the bank account, but it definitely has been in my life in other areas 🙂

  • D.L. Finn, Author says:

And yes, I have reread some older stuff and fear like someone else wrote it. Which leads me back to writing is a miracle within itself.

  • D.L. Finn, Author says:

    Feel not fear!

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
