Hello, and welcome to a regular Monday post, finally. A huge thank you goes out to everyone who followed along on the Ten Days of Flowers blog tour! It was a fun celebration! My surgery went well and now I am recovering. I cannot put any weight on my left foot for two weeks. But so far, the pain is minimal.
I love this quote and so relate to it. For every hard thing we go through in life, we are somehow enriched or made stronger.
I found this to be a calming and uplifting meditation and hope you will as well.
Since I have missed a couple of regular posts, I drew three cards for today’s message.
The only way to become skilled at something is to continually engage in practicing it. As writers, we know this too well. The more we hone our skills, the better our writing becomes. That is the message in the Eight of Pentacles. This card also reminds us that when we do what we love, we will love what we do. Financial success and security are the product of hard work and determination. If you’ve been working hard to learn something new or advance in your current field, your efforts will not go unnoticed.
The Knight of Swords is an action card. It can indicate a situation that must be dealt with head-on. It may serve as a boost to be more assertive or refocus on your goals with all your available energy. Your intuition will guide you toward who or what this swiftly moving energy represents in your life. The warning attached to this card is not to act impulsively, but instead seek the truth of the matter.
The Knight of Pentacles is the ‘slow and steady wins the race’ card. Steady progress can result in long-term abundance. Putting in solid daily effort will yield the most lasting and meaningful results. The daily effort may seem like small steps but enough small steps make one big one. Set goals and take realistic action steps to avoid burnout.
MY TAKEAWAY:
Looking at this reading from the standpoint of basically being an invalid for a couple of weeks, it is a reminder to keep honing my craft, seeking the truth in any situation, and take small steps to reach my goal. Just because I can’t walk right now, doesn’t mean I can’t write. 🙂
Your thoughts?
This beautiful Unicorn Card could not be more appropriate.

This is a great spread for Nanowrimo, Jan. Slow, steady, and diligent practice gets us to the finish line. I’m glad the surgery went well, and it sounds like you have a wonderful plan to use the downtime to indulge in some writing. Hugs.
You are so right, Diana! This spread is great for Nano! Thank you for stopping by. Glad you enjoyed the post. Hugs back!
I’m so glad your surgery went well. Can’t walk on one foot–maybe that’s why God gave us two! OK, not really like two eyes….
Good reading, as always.
Lol, Jacqui. It is difficult to walk on one foot for sure, but with devices, it’s possible. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and giving me a grin!
I’m glad your surgery went well, Jan. Waiting during recovery won’t be easy, but that’s a good quote to focus on.
Thanks, Dan. You are right about waiting to reccover. But I have no choice, so I”ll dig deep and find some patience. 🙂 I appreciate you stopping by!
These cards are right up my alley. I’m a slow and steady kind of guy. As a former procrastinator, I am so much happier now to have developed a “get ‘er done” approach to any tasks that I used to avoid. Rather than weighing on me, I get a sense of relief when I tackle those things head-on.
Thank you for your comment, Pete. Slow and steady wins the race. I appreciate your perspective and positive attitude!
You’re speaking my language, Jan. I kept telling myself to tackle my WIP one step at a time. It all counts. Glad to hear you’re on the mend!
That is so true, Teri. It all counts. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment! And I’m happy to be on the mend.
Glad you’re back, Jan! Thanks for the positive readings!
Thank you, Linda!
So happy you are in only minimum pain and hopefully you will be pain-free soon! A perfect reading. I get to a point where I wonder why I am doing all this hard work and this is a reminder everything worthwhile comes from that. And that unicorn card…love it!
I often stop and ask myself why I work so hard with so little monetary rewards, but the answer is always the same. I love creating the stories and as long as the ideas keep coming, I’ll try to keep telling them. 🙂 I’m glad you enjoyed the post and unicorn card. Thank you for your comment.
Glad your surgery is behind you. Wishing you all the best during this recovery time. Hopefully new ideas will blossom and creativity will abound.
Thank you, Joan!
So glad you are doing well. Your takeaway is perfect. It can apply to a lot of situations. Write on.
Thank you, John! That is so true and thank you for the encouragement!
Anytime, Jan. ?
Wonderful news about your surgery, Jan. ? Two weeks will pass quickly. The readings are perfect for the day/week, and the Ng quote is remarkable.
You are right, Gwen. Two weeks will pass by quickly. I’m glad you enjoyed the reading and quote. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment.
Hi Jan, you must look after your health. Writing is mentally draining and you mustn’t overdo it. That said, this is a lovely reading and I would love it to apply to my writing. A few opportunities have come my way recently that seem to be telling me to pick up my discarded WIP again.
Yay! That is awesome, Robbie. You’ve never stopped being creative with your artwork, poetry and baking, but if your WIP is calling it must be time. 🙂 I will take it easy and not push it while I am healing. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment!

Sister, I’m so glad your pain isn’t too severe thus far. Hallelujah! Just take it slow and easy. Don’t try to do too much too soon. Glad you’re sort of back in the saddle. I missed the tarot readings but I think giving to the time to Flowers and Stone was important. Love you much. 🙂
Thank you, sister. Yes, I felt like Flowers and Stone needed a birthday party and I appreciate everyone who came along for the ride. I’m taking it slow and easy. Not much else I can do. Love you and hope you have a good day and week ahead!
This reading feels like my personality. Love what you do and you will always do what you love. Give yourself into what you do, keep going, don’t quit when challenges or obstacles appear, and move on steadily. Yes, that’s me.
Have a great week, Jan!
I love that the reading resonated with you, Erika. The energy we put into anything we do affects the outcome. And steady as she goes! Thanks for visiting!
Absolutely!!!
Continue to rest, Jan. Sending you healing prayers. Love the unicorn card. It definitely “spoke” to me. 🙂
Thank you, Mary. Isn’t that little Unicorn beautiful? I just love all of the cards.
Sending hugs and healing your way, Jan. I love the quote! Take care of yourself. xo
Thank you, Jill. I am taking it easy and not pushing anything.
I love the quote and am so happy you’re recovering well, Jan. Here’s to a peaceful week. Hugs ???
Thank you, Harmony!
Hope your healing goes well. It might be forced focus on writing, but wonderful things could happen. It’s more productive than NetFlix all day.
That’s for sure, Craig. I am not a TV watcher, so I fully intend to work on my WIP and catch up on my reading pile. 🙂 There is always a silver lining. Thank you for visiting!
Good luck with the healing. When I broke my ankle (on a holiday no less!) I took advantage of the situation and made a good start on a new book. The quote is excellent. Thanks!
I fully intend to make some progress on my WIP during this down time, Darlene. It’s calling to me. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment today!
