I hope everyone had a safe and peaceful beginning to a new year that is filled with opportunities for prosperity and abundance. We are under the influence of a new moon, the perfect time to set intentions and goals. To start a new year under this auspice is powerful. Let’s make it count!
Here’s a meditation to get the year started off on the right foot.
As I have stated before, the cards I draw are random. I shuffle the cards from front to back until one pops up. These cards could not be more clearly scripted for the beginning of a new year and I am overwhelmed with the synchronicity!
Swords represent the mind or intellect. The number seven is the number of creation. On the Seven of Swords, we see a man moving forward with five swords in hand, while looking backward at two left behind. Many believe this card represents betrayal or deceit, but to me, it is the inability to move into the future without looking back at the past. Mental baggage often can weigh us down, preventing us to make constructive progress. At times the Seven of Swords suggests that you may need to put yourself first to get what you want, even if it means letting others down or putting others off-side.
The Three of Wands signals the many chances available to you to broaden your horizons through study, travel, business enterprise, and learning. You are becoming more aware of the opportunities that exist for you right now – and there are still more to come. To take advantage of this potential, you must stay committed to your path and be prepared to stretch beyond your comfort zone, knowing your best hopes lie outside of your current environment. It is time to think BIG. Consider what you can to open doors to more development and self-exploration. This card encourages you to dream bigger than your limitations. Accept your vision and be confident you will achieve it. The Three of Wands also brings your attention to the changes and challenges that lie ahead.
Temperance is the card for bringing balance, patience, and moderation into your life. You are being invited to stabilize your energy and to allow the life force to flow through you without force or resistance. It’s time to recover your flow and get your life back into order and balance.
This card calls on you to remain calm, even when life feels stressful or frantic. Maintain an even temperament and manage your emotions. You have learned to keep composed in stressful situations. Little things don’t get to you, thanks to your seemingly abundant source of patience. Your respect for balance and tranquillity is what will help you achieve and experience fulfillment in your life.
My takeaway: It is time to look forward to the future, learning from the past, but not holding on to it. Broaden your horizons, be open to opportunities, and with all things, have a healthy balance and maintain a sense of calm through the storms of life.
What a beautiful Dragon Card to help us begin a new year!
Sounds hopeful and promising. Thanks Jan. 🙂 x

Yes! Let’s go! Thanks for stopping by, Jacqui!
A wonderful way to start the new year, Jan – and with such an awesome dragon, too!
I totally agree, Teri! I do love the dragon!
I love this inspirational reading to start out the new year, thank you!
I’m glad you enjoyed it, Jacquie! Thanks for stopping by to let me know!
I like your interpretation of the Seven of Swords. It makes a lot of sense to me when looking at the card. We can handle so much in the present but still, there are some swords that still got stuck from the past and which have such power over us.
But in fact, the whole reading speaks so much to me. I realize that I limit myself through the circumstances while seeing so much I could do and have beyond them. And actually, the circumstances can be changed, I know that. It just needs a little bit of courage to stand up and take that step. It is possible and I see so much opening up. In the end, I am sure, everything leads there anyway.
Sorry, I am rambling around. But you brought so much light into this evening, Jan. Thank you!
Oh, I love your comment, Erika. Most of the Tarot books say the Seven of Swords is about deceit or trying to get away with something you’ve done, but I saw it differently and had to write what I saw. It’s true that we think we are moving forward, but as long as we are still looking back at what we’re leaving behind, we are not truly free to go. Thank you for stopping by. I am so glad the reading touched you with light and love! Hugs!
I hope that I will soon find out what it is that still keeps me in a corset. So, your reading hit home in a great way! Can you suggest a stone that helps breaking the inner shell?
Honestly, Erika, there are so many, but these, in particular, are helpful in letting go and breaking through barriers. Lepidolite, Beryl, Danburite,Fire Opal, and Rutilated Quartz. Hope that helps! Sending light and love!
Thank you so much, Jan. Just instantly I thought how powerful that Fire Opal appears to me. I will take a list of these stones with me and look out for them. Again, thank you very much, Jan💖
I think your take is the best, Jan. Let’s go forward.
One foot in front of the other, John! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for stopping by!
Love the reading, Jan. It provides positive reinforcement that we need to look forward to the future and move boldly, grabbing every opportunity. It’s a brand new year with hope and boundless ventures. Love you, sister.
I agree, sister. We have many opportunities ahead and even though we can’t see what’s around the next corner, we have to trust it will be for our best and highest good. Thank you for stopping by! Love you too!
Hi, Jan! The Fresh Start Meditation was relaxing and reminded me how much I miss yoga. Thank you for this much appreciated motivation. Happy and productive new year!

Great way to start the year, Jan. I’m learning to remain calm in trying times. My husband was surprised how well I take not so good news with our latest repairs…lol. The dragon card really spoke to me.
That is a true testimony of the power of a practice of meditation, Denise. And it helps in solving issues. Thank you so much for stopping by and I pray that things smooth out for you soon. Glad you liked the dragon card! Hugs!

What a fabulous reading to start the new year, Jan. Your comment: “This card calls on you to remain calm, even when life feels stressful or frantic. Maintain an even temperament and manage your emotions. You have learned to keep composed in stressful situations. Little things don’t get to you…” resonated deeply with me.
Happy New Year 2022! xo
It did with me too, Mary. I’m not always able to do that, but when I can, it diffuses any situation into a manageable form. Thank you so much for stopping by and here’s to a new year filled with adventures!
I love the quote you chose to accompany this post, Jan. It’s perfect!
And I’ve always believed to move forward you have to learn from the past, but not cling to it. Great takeaway today, and pretty dragon card 🙂
