Welcome to another Tarot Tuesday!
If you are just joining me, let me explain the inspiration to begin these posts. In Texas, and all across the country, Taco Tuesday is a popular day when Tacos are usually 99 cents. So, I had the inspiration, or Angel nudge as I like to think of it, to create a Tarot Tuesday. Each Tuesday I will post a different Tarot card and give its meaning. I pray and ask for the right card that will bring a universal message.

Today I have drawn the Eight of Pentacles.
Just an interesting observation – last week we had the Eight of Cups, so we have another eight card. The two weeks prior, we had two aces. Hmmmmm. Very interesting.
Keywords for the Eight of Pentacles: Apprenticeship, repetitive tasks, mastery, or skill development.
When this card appears in a Tarot reading, you are working hard to improve your skills and become a master at what you do. You may have recently changed your work, education or financial circumstances, and now you are applying your sheer determination and concentration to master the new skill that you are learning. You are diligent and hard-working and you are applying yourself fully to whatever is at the center of your attention. As you do the same task over and over, you work your way towards mastery of your craft, and through your perseverance and unwavering attention, you create success.
The Eight of Pentacles may indicate further education or study in order to hone your skills. You may already be proficient in a particular skill set, but you are now seeking to master those skills. For example, you may be a great home cook, but now you are starting to focus your attention on fine French cuisine. Or perhaps you have learned the basics of Tarot reading, but now you want to become a Tarot expert! You know that it will require a lot of focus and dedication in your studies, but you are willing to work hard and to pay attention to the details. You know that you will not learn these advanced skills overnight, but you are prepared for the journey towards becoming a master at your chosen expertise.
More broadly, the Eight of Pentacles suggests you are working away at the finer details of the various aspects of your life, in an effort to continuously improve your situation. This card is a positive sign that you are committed to making those changes and to ensuring that you give yourself the best possible chance. Overall, this is a very hard-working and conscientious energy that is present in your life.
The Eight of Pentacles is encouragement to keep doing what you are doing as it will eventually lead to success. Yes, it requires a lot of dedication, focus, and patience but as each day passes, and as you stay true to your values and beliefs, you get a little closer to your goal. It may not be as apparent as you may like but events are unfolding that will lead you to the right path. Continue working on yourself, too, and making ongoing improvements and adjustments to ensure that you are the best person you can be.
If you encounter this card and are not currently engaged in the active pursuit of your goals, ask yourself what you could learn or create to better yourself or your circumstances. If you are already engaged in the pursuit of new learning, the Eight of Pentacles may be a card of encouragement and reassurance that the energy you invest in your development will be worth your while.
Wow! I don’t know about you, but I think this card would apply to any writer. The more we write and the more we strive to get better at storytelling, the more polished and refined our stories become. It is super important to me, as an author, that my published work be the best that it can be. I know an occasional typo, missing word, or POV slip is all but inevitable, but I never want anyone to pick up my work and find it riddled with errors. So, from that aspect, I totally relate to this card. AND, I enrolled in a Script Writing Course this week. Then nudge is there to start back working on turning mine and Rick’s story into a screenplay. What are your thoughts?

I agree that this card could apply to any writer, Jan. We’re all apprentices, aren’t we? Perfection is impossible with this craft, therefore the learning continues. I’m in catchup mode right now, but hope to apply myself shortly to a new writing adventure. š

You are correct about the 8 of pentacles being a great card for writers.
I took a script writing course once. The teacher was terrible and hated me from the beginning. I had a job that sometimes interfered with class and wasn’t at all of them. But I turned in all the material. She gave me a C.
When I complained, she said I hadn’t attended class. When I explained that I was also working she said it didn’t matter. What could I do about it? What every writer does.
In my 3rd book, she is the terrible professor who gives my lead character a C because she couldn’t attend all the classes even though she made A’s on all the work. I had so much fun doing it. Very cathartic — a good way to flush that anger out of the system. š
What a great story, Floridaborne! š You made me smile. The first writing class I ever took was a screenwriting course and I learned a lot, but also realized within the first hour of the class that the story I was about to write could not all fit into one screenplay. So, four books later, I had told it all. š Thanks for stopping by!

I agree, as a writer I cringe every time an error from my books are pointed out to me ( some obvious, some a technicality) but I do think Iām getting a bit smoother with every story- I hope!

Another great read, Jan. I’m so happy you’re pursuing screenwriting. As for the reading itself, I couldn’t help but think of all the researchers working on a vaccine for COVID. Fingers crossed they persist and take every precaution! š

I do think as writers we are always striving to improve our craft. I know I am. I feel like I’m never done learning, and am certainly open to learning more!
It’s funny, but as soon as I finished ‘Til Death Do Us Part, I started working on a screenplay. But the timing wasn’t right and I was burnt out at the moment. A screenplay sounds fantastic, Jan! Run with it. š This card encourages me to continue my journey to enhance my wellness both physically and mentally. I’ve been faltering a bit lately, but this weekend I recommitted myself to focusing on those goals, so this card came at the right time for me. š
