#TarotTuesday – Four of Swords

Welcome to another Tarot Tuesday!

If you are just joining me, let me explain the inspiration to begin these posts. In Texas, and all across the country, Taco Tuesday is a popular day when Tacos are usually 99 cents. So, I had the inspiration, or Angel nudge as I like to think of it, to create a Tarot Tuesday. Each Tuesday I will post a different Tarot card and give its meaning. I pray and ask for the right card that will bring a universal message.

I created a short video to demonstrate how I pull the card for the posts. If you’re interested, here’s a LINK.

Today, we are given the Four of Swords!

The keywords for this card are: Rest, relaxation, meditation, contemplation, and recuperation.

After the high energy action card we had last week, along with the incredibly powerful full moon, this card could not come at a better time.

The Four of Swords tells you to rest before you take on the next challenge. You have reached an important first milestone and must recharge your energy before the next phase begins so you are refreshed and ready to go. Even if you are highly productive and driven, take time out from your busy schedule to restore your energy and heal the body and the mind. Constant stress and tension will break even the hardest and most resilient of people but brief periods of rest enable you to refresh your energy, concentration and focus so that you are ready for the next challenge.

Take a day off work, travel to a new destination, or spend time with your loved ones – whatever you need to take a break. Now is not the time to make decisions.

In fact, the Four of Swords presents a new challenge: to stay silent and inactive. Now is the time to build up your mental strength by clearing your mind of any mental ‘clutter’ or stress. Meditate and spend time in a place that creates peace, calm and tranquility for you. Go on retreat or start a meditation course. You need to replenish your strength and spend time connecting with your Higher Self.

The Four of Swords suggests the need for seclusion. You need solitude to negotiate your situation and time apart from others to gather your thoughts and feelings. Solitude, although often difficult to bear, is necessary for you to recharge your batteries and rejuvenate your spirit. This solitary experience always bears fruit in greater inner strength and confidence.

In a practical sense, the Four of Swords is an indicator that you need to take some time to review your progress so far. This is an excellent time to re-assess your priorities. It is almost like conducting your own ‘post-implementation review’ following a major milestone or a significant challenge. Create time and space to evaluate what has worked well, what has not, and what you need to change. Pausing to reflect after each major challenge will position you well for success in the future.

Once again, the card has hit the proverbial nail on the head. I have completed the first full round of edits on the manuscript I am working on for singer/songwriter, Tom McElvain. Now is the time to recharge my batteries and get ready to plunge into a new year, new projects and new ideas. But not today! 🙂

How about you? Does this card speak to you?

Thank you for joining me! See you next Tuesday for another inspiring message from the Universe via the Tarot Cards!

As always, I use the Rider-Waite Radiance deck and BiddyTarot.com for interpretations.

  1. So true, Stephanie. The meanings are often different from what we perceive. I’m happy you can start your R&R Monday! Enjoy and Merry Christmas!

  2. I forgot to read this yesterday. It’s funny to me how the cards never even remotely mean what I’d think they would mean. Well my rest, recuperate, recharge etc etc etc can’t start until Monday but I’ll be ready for it! I hope you have a very Merry Christmas filled with all the people and things you love.

  3. Fair warning–I definitely need a break… May we all relax after the Holiday season bustling and just take time out to be and breathe. <3 Merry Christmas & Happy New Year, Jan!

  4. Wow, totally timely over here too. Also, yesterday I posted about making room for those things which we love doing in order to gain energy for those things we have to do. Or in other words, don’t neglect what your soul wants to accomplish while running frustrated in the hamster wheel.

    1. Oh, Erika, that is such a timely reminder. With the chaos of the holidays and thinking we have to do everything for everyone, we need that reminder! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I will have to go over and read your post. It sounds like a message everyone could use. Please feel free to post a link here so everyone can visit!

Yes I hear this card loud and clear! I’m fighting a bug I got from the grandkids and I’m still pushing forward. Today I do plan to rest and recoup as well as regroup. Thanks, Jan.

    1. Good idea, Denise! The world won’t stop, that’s for sure. Believe me, stopping and allowing myself time to rest and regroup is the hardest thing to do, but necessary sometimes. Here’s to fast healing and regrouping! Hugs!

  6. This is a nice reading, Jan. I preferred last week’s though, I don’t want to rest, I want to be left in peace so that I can write. It won’t happen much, sadly, over the festive period when everyone wants a bit of you.

    1. I totally understand, Robbie. The holidays can be hectic for sure. But, if you get a chance for a “YOU” day before it all hits, take it and don’t feel guilty!! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs!

  7. I got the burst of energy from last week, and am probably going to have some downtime this weekend. I love solitude, that’s when the Muse visits. I have to say, that graphic looks more like an ancient casket than a person relaxing. I’ll pass on that part.

    1. Very true, Craig. If not for the hand position, it would be easy to surmise that the person is dead. But, he’s just taking a break and recharging his batteries. Yes. Solitude is when our minds can really get creative!!! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Here’s to a great productive visit with your Muse!

  8. Reblogged this on Campbells World and commented:
    Yep.
Hits the nail on the head for me.
Feelling a bit stressed, frustrated, and dare I say it, a bit burned out.
Things that seem like no brainers to me seem complicated to others, and on and on the frustrations pile up.
So business closes tomorrow and doesn’t reopen until new year.
Cannot believe how accurate your draws are.

    1. Thank you, Patty, for the comment and the reblog both! I love how the Universe speaks! Give yourself a break and enjoy the holidays! Merry Christmas!

  9. This one comes for me at an appropriate time, too. I’m still recovering from NaNo and using the down time to recharge, hoping to tackle projects fresh in the New Year!

  10. I wish I’d read this before starting the day! I’ve been trying to work out the new WordPress Gutenberg editor and not getting very far at all. Clearly something for another day when the cards are in my favour!

    1. Lol, Annabelle! The messages are often so clear and yet we continue to struggle. I do the same thing and get all stressed out when something doesn’t work. Yep, take a break and when you go back to it, it will be easier. Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment!

  12. Wow Jan, does it ever speak to me!! I’m finished with my 100 inspections of the year. It’s been a busy year with training a new employee, doing a major sample project for the Arkansas River which started in August and ended last week. Then on top of that, still getting my 100 inspections completed. I felt guilty this week so far, that I finished ahead of schedule and now that you shown me this card, I now know I don’t need to feel guilty, actually this is my time to decompress and reward myself with a little breathing room. Thank you for sharing this with me. I think I’ll enjoy the rest of this week without stress.
    Love you

    1. Absolutely, Tonya! Give yourself a much-needed break and pat on the back for a job well-done! Rest up for the holidays! I wish you a very Merry Christmas and safe travels as you come to Texas!! Hugs!

  13. Hah, this one couldn’t be more apt for me right now. I love the synchronicity of the universe at times! I came down sick over the weekend and spent 2 days in bed. This is my first day back up and about and it will be a short one. Doing some essential catch up and tweet scheduling and then I’m resting up again. Thanks for another great Tarot Tuesday, Jan. Have a lovely week 🙂

    1. Somehow the Universe knows exactly what we need, Harmony! Rest up, heal fast and get back to 100% before the big holiday!! Thanks for stopping by! Healing hugs!
