Welcome to another Tarot Tuesday!
If you are just joining me, let me explain the inspiration to begin these posts. In Texas, and all across the country, Taco Tuesday is a popular day when Tacos are usually 99 cents. So, I had the inspiration, or Angel nudge as I like to think of it, to create a Tarot Tuesday. Each Tuesday I will post a different Tarot card and give its meaning. I pray and ask for the right card that will bring a universal message.
I created a short video to demonstrate how I pull the card for the posts. If you’re interested, here’s a LINK.
Today’s card is from the Minor Arcana, the Seven of Swords.
The Keywords for this card are: Betrayal, deception, getting away with something, or acting strategically.
Traditionally, the Seven of Swords indicates theft, betrayal, deception and trickery. You may be trying to get away with something and are sneaking around behind other people’s backs, hoping to go undetected. If you are lucky, you might get away with your secret intact. But if you are unlucky, others will soon find out what you have done, causing you shame and embarrassment. Be aware that any time you use cunning or deception to gain an advantage over someone or something else, you are at risk of being found out. And even if you are not, the cover-up will require a tremendous amount of effort, and it may not be worth it.
Alternatively, you may be the victim of someone else’s betrayal. Others are not being candid with you, and you may be unaware of their lies and deception. You may trust someone who then turns out to be running their own agenda, leaving you high and dry. Look out for any sneaky behaviour and listen to your intuition when something does not feel right or seems too good to be true.
On a more positive note, the Seven of Swords points out that you need to be strategic in what you do. You know you cannot do everything at once – nor should you. Instead, you must prioritize what’s important to you and direct your focus and attention on the few tasks that will move you closer to your goals. It’s the 80-20 rule: 20% of your work will account for 80% of your results, so focus on the 20%. You may be able to accept some responsibilities or duties, but not all of them. Or you may say ‘yes’ to some projects at the expense of others.
At times the Seven of Swords suggests that you may need to put yourself first to get what you want, even if it means letting others down or putting others off-side. For example, you may be asked to travel for work to attend a high-profile event, but it would mean missing your child’s birthday, so you decline the travel opportunity, even though you know it will upset your boss. Here’s the thing: you can’t be everything to everyone, and sometimes you need to put your own needs and priorities first, even if others may not agree with you or understand where you are coming from.
The Seven of Swords could also imply that you are trying to escape from a situation that is not working for you anymore rather than dealing with it head-on. You may attempt to run away from commitment, responsibility, hard work or love. You may procrastinate, letting problems slip and become worse because you do not want to deal with them. Sometimes you just have to face what has to be faced.
I have to admit I could not relate to this card at all until I got to the part about being strategic in what you do and that you can’t do everything, or be everything for everyone. I have been feeling that I have taken on some commitments that I need to back away from in order to focus on other personal goals. This card gave me the confirmation I needed. How about you? Can you relate to any aspect of this card?
Thank you for joining me! See you next Tuesday for another inspiring message from the Universe via the Tarot Cards!
As always, I use the Rider-Waite Radiance deck and BiddyTarot.com for interpretations.
Well, with all the strange happenings surrounding this pandemic I’m sure deception is involved. Through the years I’ve struggled with putting myself first. It’s always been difficult to put my needs above someone else’s needs. I’m finally learning to occasionally put myself first––baby steps. Good reading! 😀 xo
Lol! You are so right, Vashti. Baby steps. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment!
It’s my pleasure, Jan! <3
Hugs to you too. I am also working on these things, Jan.
Thank you, Robbie! Wishing you success!
I think most people struggle to get their work and home life balance right and I have heard this is even more difficult in corporate America where a lot is expected from employees. I hope you manage to get your commitments sorted out, Jan. It is never easy as you end up feeling like you are letting other people down.
Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. Yes, finding a balance in life is always the hardest thing to do, at least for me. And, yes, I do have that fear of letting others down. I’m working on figuring it all out. 🙂 Hugs!
What a great reading, Jan. We don’t always connect with the message. We’re just the one to share the message. I get that. <3
So true, Colleen. It is a blessing to be a channel for Spirit’s messages! Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment! Hugs!
Well, I do love your process, Jan. <3
Stunning again! Totally! When I read the part where you explained the card may say that you get away with something or are hiding something, I already thought of hiding some feelings of overwhelm and pushing them back for not appearing weak or not able to do my job. I actually wanted to ask you if this kind of dishonesty can be meant too. But then I read this paragraph:
“The Seven of Swords could also imply that you are trying to escape from a situation that is not working for you anymore rather than dealing with it head-on. You may attempt to run away from commitment, responsibility, hard work or love.” It hits the nail on the head.
It seems it has the same meaning for you and me.
It’s so amazing to me how the synchronicity of the Universe works. I’m always stunned and yet I shouldn’t be. 🙂 Thank you SO much for your comment. I am thrilled that you got a positive message from the card. That is always my goal! Have a wonderful day and thank you for stopping by!
Haha, I hear you. Actually fully aware of how it works and still amazed when it happens again. May we never lose that sense of magic.
Don’t the cards always have a positive message… lol! They may differ from what the mind wants but who cares 😂
I can connect to this card. I have someone in my life who is pushing people away because he is overwhelmed and doesn’t know how best to handle his situation. I also feel that I need to put myself first in one area of my life. It’s hard because I always focus on caring for others. It’s what brings me the most happiness, but one area of my life is draining me, so it’s time I send some of that love back to me. 🙂
You are so right, Yvette. We are givers and it does bring joy, but when it is out of balance (giving and receiving) it can certainly be draining. Self-love is probably the hardest thing for us to do, yet so necessary. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment!
A good card today, Jan. I have witnessed some questionable behavior. I took some time to call it out but have yet to hear an explanation. So I think rather than ignoring it, I will continue to press for an answer. In light of all the unanswered questionable behaviors worldwide mine is minor but needs exposure. Thanks.
Regardless of worldwide behaviors, the ones in our own small personal words are very important. Yes. Continue to press for an answer. You deserve one. Thanks for stopping by!
Thank you, Jan
I have been doing a lot of thinking about priorities, Jan. I have to decide what’s important to me. I can’t do all for everyone. This may be the good outcome from the current situation. I have wondered about a couple of intentions around me too. I have also been putting off dealing with some issues. So this one not only spoke to me but yelled…lol. Thanks, Jan
Lol! Yes, it kind of yelled at me too, Denise. 🙂 I think several of us needed this message today. Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs!
Reblogged this on GrannyMoon's Morning Feast.
Thank you for the reblog, Granny Moon!
I think we’ve all done it. I recently took on a project that is eating into my time. I’ll find a way to get it done, but may have to shuffle some long standing plans.
Yep. We are all guilty. This card was my confirmation to take a step back and prioritize. Thanks so much for leaving a comment, Craig!
Reblogged this on Campbells World and commented:
For me, the card spoke in two ways. First, it confirmed something I’d been suspecting for a while, and that is that I’ve a friend, who is not such a great friend after all. This person is a gossip and is someone who I’ve recently learned will, if he doesn’t know the whole of something simply make it up as he goes along.
For many years I believed him to be a true friend but now things have come to light which say different. This card says that what I didn’t want to believe is so.
Next, I too must give up some things to make better use of my time and so I can be more productive not only for my own career but for the betterment of my business as a whole.
So, great card all the way around.
Hi, Patty. It’s never pleasant to realize we are being deceived by someone we trust. I’m sorry this card confirmed your suspicions but forewarned is forearmed. Thank you for reblogging!
Jan, the sneaky aspect of this card is spot on for me and you know why. I think I’ve been found out. On the other hand, I took no risks with my health nor did I put anyone else at risk. You can’t lock someone up forever. They’re bound to rebel. And I’m really a rebel at heart. 🙂 🙂 As for you, I’m glad you’re beginning to see why you should say no to a lot of obligations. You’ve been saddled with far too many things. You have a good day, Sister. Love you!
Oh no! I’ll have to hear all about this, sister! You are right. If you lock someone up, they are bound to rebel eventually. You are a rebel at heart and that’s why you are able to write the amazing heroines you put into your stories. 🙂 Yes. I’m taking steps to lighten my load. I love you. We will talk SOON!!
“You can’t be everything to everyone.” Yeah, that’s the part the resonates strongly with me. I often fall into the trap of trying to do exactly that. I think it’s part of my INFJ personality!
I have the same syndrome, Mae. Maybe that’s why our personalities and spirits clicked when we first met. 🙂 It is so hard for me to think of letting someone else down by backing away, but with life circumstances changing, I think it behooves us all to look at what is not serving us and let it go with kindness and with love! Thank you for stopping by.
I do think we relate so well to each other, Jan. Often when you post how a certain card speaks to you, I find myself reacting with the same emotions and feelings. Learning to let go with kindness and love is a perfect way to approach the things we can’t do, be, or change. Hugs, my friend!

Wave those 7 wands, so I can share… It’s almost become our own private game as each time you respond, the PRESS THIS button appears! Must be the Magician playing games with me, eh? <3
HA! Now it’s here!!
It’s so strange, Annette, because It’s always there when I look. Yes, the Universe seems to want to play tricks on us. 🙂 Glad you found it, and thank you, as always, for sharing!! Hugs!
Very insightful, Jan. We live in a rare time of awakening. Your reading underscores the deceit and manipulation that has driven much of what we see. Across the globe, people are questioning. Who doesn’t feel the pain, the confusion, the fear? Each of us needs to protect our heart and, as you suggested, let go of that which burdens it. Sometimes we need the help of a figurative sword. ♥
So true, Gwen. I didn’t even think about this on a global scale and your insight helps make all of that perfectly synced. You are right! And YES, we need to protect our hearts and let go of whatever is not serving us. Thank you so much for your awesome comment! Hugs!
