THROWBACK THURSDAY – DISCOVERY

I’m reaching way back to 2017 for this one, but since April is poetry month, I couldn’t let it slip by without acknowledging this beautiful book.

It’s a fact that poetry does not sell, but I didn’t put this book together hoping for tons of sales. I put it together to complete a circle.

Once I finished the true story series, this book sealed it.

All of the poems and the artwork were created by my late husband behind the walls of Leavenworth Prison. I added a few of my poetic attempts in the back of the book in order to legally publish it.

The artwork alone is stunning, and the poems range from deep self-reflection, to lamenting fate, loneliness, to quirky and funny. It runs the gamut.

The forward was written by Willie Nelson’s ex-wife, Connie Nelson and she expresses herself beautifully. There are a few samples of the artwork contained in this book trailer. I hope you enjoy it.

This book is available in hardback, paperback and eBook. I hope you find it interesting. It’s historic! Click on the image below to purchase from Amazon.

Thank you for your interest and support! It means the world to me!

  1. Hi Jan, I have this book. I have bookings for Treasuring Poetry through June but I would like to feature you and this poetry book for Treasuring Poetry if you are interested. Let me know. We can do July.

  2. Apart from the book. How was it for you when you learned that your husband had to go to prison. Sorry, but I think it must have been a huge shock since he was not guilty anyway (as you said earlier).

  3. This sounds good, Jan. Didn’t I read somewhere that Willie Nelson played one of Rick’s songs he wrote from prison? May not even be true! But if so, nice to see that thread is still strong.

  4. Going back through the years, Jan, I bought this lovely book from you at a bookfair in Texas. It’s great to see it featured today!

    1. Oh, I remember that day, Gwen. It was such a special day—the day I met you and John in person. AND the day you met John in person. What a wonderful gift!! Hugs, sweet lady!

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
