#WednesdayWonders – #Gemstones – Snowflake Obsidian

Snowflake Obsidian is such an incredibly beautiful stone. You can see it in the lower right of the photo above but here’s a clearer photo of it.

Black Obsidian is a very powerful and creative stone. It grounds the soul and spiritual forces into the physical plane.

However, Snowflake Obsidian has some different properties. The white inclusions in the black obsidian do indeed look like snowflakes.

It is known to calm and soothe, putting you in a positive frame of mind to be receptive before bringing to your attention certain ingrained patterns of behavior. It teaches you to value mistakes as well as successes.

It is a stone of purity, providing a balance for the mind, body, and soul. It can also help you recognize and release ways of thinking that do not serve your highest good, or that are stressful ways of thinking. Snowflake Obsidian keeps us grounded and balanced during chaotic times, and encourages us to be present and in the moment.

It aids with isolation and loneliness. I think we all could have used this beautiful stone through last year’s lockdown.

It is empowering and can aid in meditation.

As far as physical healing, the Snowflake Obsidian can treat vein issues and the skeletal structure. It improves circulation and can be beneficial for the skin and eyes.

A common use is to place this stone in water and drink as an elixir.

I’d love to hear from you. Do any of you have or use this stone? It makes gorgeous jewelry!

I’m pretty sure this is the one I keep in my purse, along with a couple others. Probably why I often hear my purse is heavy…lol. I have so many I lose track what is what, but know they work when ai ferl that charge coming from them.

    1. Lol, Denise. Your comment made me smile. I remember going through airport security one time with a bag of stones in my bra. They made me remove them. 🙂 Yes, they definitely work and I love that you can feel the energy from them. Thank you for stopping by!

    1. It is actually fairly common, Jacquie. There are many different types of Obsidian, but I love this one the best. 🙂 Thank you for your comment!

I’ve got plenty of obsidian, but I don’t think I’ve seen this variety before.

  3. What a beautiful stone, Jan. I had not heard of this one. I’m going to visit my local gemstone store to see if they stock this. Thank you!

  4. I do have a snowflake obsidian too. I love that characteristic you mentioned about recognizing ways of thinking. I have it right because of that, to recognize more misunderstandings in myself. And I love to compare the look of the stone with that characteristic – the light spots in the dark.

    1. Thank you so much for your comment, Erika. I am not surprised that you have this beautiful stone. It is so unique and I would love to have a bracelet made from it. The comparison of light and dark is fitting. We must have the light to illuminate the dark.

  5. This is very pretty, Jan. I don’t have one but if I ever run across one, I’ll have to buy it. I love seeing all your stones, Jan. You have amassed a great collection over the years. Love you.

    1. We need to go on a rock hunting adventure, sister, and New Mexico or Arkansas are the best two places that are close enough to go. Maybe in 2022! Thank you for your comment. Love you!

    1. It is a lovely stone for sure, Staci. I don’t have any jewelry made from it but would love a bracelet or pair of earrings. Thank you for stopping by!
