Where has it gone?

I love poetry. It’s simple, raw and honest. What a great way to express thoughts and feelings, right? It’s been a LONG time since I dabbled in poetry, but there is a longing deep inside me that demands to be filled. I can only go for a short period of time without creating something new, then the desire takes over and I must respond.

WHERE HAS IT GONE?

Life gets busy, who am I kidding?

Truth is I’m barely keeping up –

It’s unrelenting and unforgiving.

I swear it never lets up

I search daily for creative inspiration

Longing for the moment an idea blows up

I’m hungry to write and it’s causing frustration

Oh, dear muse, can you fill my cup?

What? You say it’s already full?

If I’ll simply slow down instead of speeding up

Remember thoughts molded into words are powerful

I just have to look for a perfect mashup

Okay, I’m looking!

Again, because of how busy life has gotten with working two jobs AND trying to get my White Rune Series back up and available, I haven’t written anything new other than a short story to be included in my upcoming collection.

But the longing for a new story is there. Maybe I’m learning a lesson in patience. I’m trying.

I hope you enjoyed this short poem.

  1. Time and energy have a way of being used up without asking for our advice. I like the poem, and I understand the desire to be writing. I am busier than I thought I’d be after retiring. I guess that’s just the way life is. I’m sure you’ll find time to fit everything in. Maybe not when you like, but in time.

    1. I know I am just being impatient, Teri. But that’s just me. I am hoping to start something new with the new year. Hope you can too! Thanks for dropping by.

    1. You are so right, Robbie. I just got a little antsy and impatient to start something new. 🙂 Patience has never been my strong suit. Glad you enjoyed the poem. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I like how you got a poem in about the lack of time for creativity! I always thought I’d have more time as I got older and it is the opposite. Poetry has been on the back burner for me too but still there simmering. My plan is to focus in it more in new year. Great poem and hope it opens that poetry door for you xo

    1. Thank you, Denise. I needed desperately to write something and poetry is the shortest thing I could think of. 🙂 I enjoyed it. I’m happy you stopped by and can’t wait to see what the new year holds for all of us!

  3. Once you start writing, it becomes a craving, doesn’t it. I’m itching to start something new but I made myself promise to wait until the new year. We’ll see how that goes. xo

    1. Yes, it does. I’m thinking maybe the new year as well, Darlene. I have to get the White Rune Series back up. That’s a priority. Anyway, I’m trying to have patience. Thanks for stopping by!
