Hello, friends. Thanks for dropping by for another meandering today. This will be a short one.

First the good news. My middle grandson is now a licensed driver! Josh passed his test. The smile says it all.

This week is dance recital for my oldest granddaughter while the younger one is off to camp for seven days. Even with no school, their little lives are so busy!
The apartments where I live raised their rates on the garages and storage rooms. I have both. So, I’ve been busy emptying the storage into the garage and throwing away even more stuff. How on earth do we accumulate so much? It’s a disease. 🙂
I had a large box of Rick’s 45 rpm records I did not need to keep,. So I put a post on Facebook and on Saturday, a lady my girls went to school with drove from Abilene to pick them up. And she took the whole box. I have no idea what she will do with tons of the same records, but it doesn’t matter. It was better than putting them in the dumpster.
Speaking of the apartments, remember a couple of years ago when I was fighting the pigeons to keep them off my balcony? I wound up installing netting and that worked great but it was starting to deteriorate. So, I had the brilliant idea to purchase magnetic screens that let the air flow, but block out everything else. My daughter helped me put them up and I loved it. But then…a storm came through and those screens were flapping in the wind. Now we are trying to figure out what we can do to keep them in place. I swear I get so tired of fighting these birds. Take a look. There are SO many of them. My apartment is on the right.

I will be working back at the store again as another person has left. I will enjoy having the extra income, but working so many hours, everything else suffers, especially writing.
I’ve all but stalled out on my Christmas story. I don’t know if I will get it written or not. I’ve never felt like this before. Not throwing in the towel just yet.
Sorry, but I really don’t have much inspiration to share with you today. I’m weary. Still, I keep trying to suit up and show up with a smile as much as possible.
However, I received a gift from D.L. Finn’s Gratitude Store this past week that lifted my spirits. Have you ever visited her store?

I found this quote and it spoke to me. Maybe it will you too. It is true. Many have been called eccentric only to be praised later for their innovation. 🙂

Here’s a tarot card for this week.

There is a lot of fire in this card! Fire equals passion. This card indicates your passion is moving you ahead very quickly. Whatever you are facing, you are excited about it. You are ready for a grand adventure. If one doesn’t come to you, you will go out and find it. Well, I’m not sure how this card applies to me as I just feel weary, not impassioned. Maybe that’s the message – to find the passion!
I hope you have a great week and that things are going your way! I’m ready for things to slow down a bit here. Thanks for visiting!

When we moved into this house the old lady next door used to feed the pigeons every day. She had sackfuls of seed for them in her house – along with tons of rubbish. Once she pointed out we had grass growing on our roof – that was from the seed the birds dropped!
Congrats to the grandson getting his license. I hope you have a good week, Jan. Maybe my wife should start charging me rent on storage. That might be the incentive I need to get rid of some stuff.
Ha! Yep. That would be a good incentive for sure. Thanks for stopping by, Dan.
Some good news there, Jan, with the driving licence and a home for Rick’s records – although it must have been hard to let them go. Sorry about the pigeons, we have a similar problem here. Hope you can find a better solution. Have a good week. 🙂
Thank you for stopping by, Laura. Yes, it was good to see the records go and the storage room is now empty! I am really hoping for a pigeon solution. They are out of control.
It’s great that your grandson, Josh, got his driver’s license, Jan. I hope you get the screens figured out, your job goes well and you deal with the time take okay. Have a great week.
Thanks so much, Tim. I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment.
Happy to, Jan. 😍
That’s a lot of birds, Jan. Sorry I can’t offer any advice, but Bond sure would love to watch them.
Congrats to Josh! Now the door is open to a whole new set of worries, lol.
Bond would probably get anxiety from so many birds. 😁 I do. You are so right about the driving teenager. It’s a whole new set of worries. Thanks so much for stopping by.
I sure hope you can find a solution for the pigeons. It’s horrible the mess they make. You sound very weary, Sister. I wish you could get more rest only now, you have the trip to New York planned. As you know, being so tired stifles creativity. You’re going to have to find some quiet times, even if you abandon this Christmas story. You’re pushing too hard. Passion will come if you give yourself the rest to heal your spirit. Loved the Knight card and I can see how it applies to me. Much love and big hugs.
Thank you so much, sister. I know we all get down now and then and yesterday was ‘down’ for me but as the say went on, I found my footing. I feel more positive and proactive today. I’ve already talked to the apartment manager about the birds, contacted the management company and the city of Plano. Maybe someone will have a solution. I will rest. I promise. And I did get the answer I think I need for the story in meditation this morning. 🙂 Maybe I’ll have a new chapter for you to read soon! Love you!
Good luck with the pigeon problem. We consider these birds rats with wings. I think if you take a breather, your story will magically come back. At least I hope so.
I 100% agree with you about the pigeons, John. They are rats with wings and they stink! I hope you’re right about the story! I’m not giving up! Thank you for stopping by!
Hi Jan, maybe inspiration will strike this week. Good luck with the bird problem.
Thanks, Robbie. Yes, I’m open to inspiration and definitely hoping for a solution to the bird problem!
Are people feeding them? If you take away the food they usually go.
No one is feeding them. I have no idea what they eat but they are fat. Pigeons are homing birds and always stay where they hatch out so don’t know if they would ever leave. Thanks for chiming in, Robbie.
I hope you get some time to rest and be good to yourself!
Thank you, Liz. I used to never have any residuals from traveling, but as I get older, I find it takes a bit longer to recover. I appreciate you stopping by and your kind words.
You’re welcome, Jan.
Too many birds, not enough landlord help! This is biologic infusion week for me! Hoping it will keep Crohn’s misery quiet for another 8 weeks! Thank God for modern medicine!
Oh, Joy, your comment put my petty issue into complete perspective. I pray the medicine works and gives you some weeks of feeling good. Hugs!
My husband and I laugh at how much seems to be breaking of late. I have my theories. Good luck with the bird screens!
Oh dear, Jacqui. Sorry so many things are breaking, but I love that you can laugh about it. It’s better than crying. Thanks for the good luck wish!
Jan vs the Pigeons sounds like a great novel. Might turn out a bit ACME by the end.
Ha! Ha! If I were to take an American Indian name, it would be Pigeon Fighter! 🙂
You should write this novel. Pigeon Fighter for hire.
Congratulations to your grandson Jan and one of life’s milestones… and I agree it is useful to have extra income and moving everything into the garage is a start…you might like to use something like this non-lethal bird scarer which is designed for balconies and patios… https://www.amazon.com/OFFO-Reflective-Reflector-Woodpeckers-Sparrows/dp/B0GCNCR9BW/ And I hope you get some time to relax and to finish your Christmas story… a lot to ask at the moment I know but you are a warrior Jan ♥♥
Thank you for the suggestion, dear Sally. I’m off to check it out. And thank you for the encouragement. I need that today! Hugs!
We’ve got your back Jan… ♥♥
I just returned from checking out the link you sent. I’ve been here in this same place for 9 years and have tried ALL of the motion, whirlygig things imaginable. They work for a day or two until the pigeons realize it won’t hurt them. I hate to say they are intelligent birds, but they catch on pretty quick. 🙂
We have the same problem with crows Jan.. the only thing that seems to deter them if is I am standing there by the feeders… Perhaps that’s the answer, a life size cut out of you waving your fist at them lol. ♥
Hi Jan, you need a break, try to get one. You do sound weary, so unlike you. As for the pidgeons your landlord needs to put netting or another deterent. It is his/her resposibility. By the way your flat looks gorgeous !
Thank you, Joy. I am going to try and take a short break this week, if I can. I agree that it is the landlord’s responsibility. Unfortunately, they do nothing. So, today I am taking some proactive measures by contacting corporate office and the housing authority. Maybe someone will help. I love my apartment. It’s spacious and other than the bird issue, it’s been a great place for me to live for the past 9 years.
Great post, Jan! I can definitely relate to the busyness of life and how that stifles writing. I’m doing my best to push through it this summer because I really want to start writing the sequel to Breathless. I’m in the process of sketching it out. Great tarot card! I have a great road trip starting next week, and I am really excited about it. 🙂
I am so thrilled for your road trip, Yvette. That will be such an awesome time to spend with your son. Thank you for stopping by. Good luck sketching out the sequel to Breathless! That was a gripping story. Glad you enjoyed the tarot card.
Congratulations to Josh!
Ah, balcony (or porch and windows in our case) birds. I hope you win the battle! Every spring we scissor-tailed fly catchers banging on our windows.
Thank you, Priscilla. I’m not sure who is happier, Josh, or my daughter. 🙂 At least she doesn’t have to drive him everywhere now. Pigeons are homing birds and tend to stay where they hatch. I wish they’d move on.
A busy week, Jan
Thanks for stopping by, Toni.
Happy Monday, Jan. An interesting post – I thought we had a lot of pigeons visit – but not compared to you! That is a problem. I hope you get the screen sorted. I didn’t know about the Gratitude Store so thank you for that. What a great idea ❤️
Thank you for visiting, Esther. I’m so glad to introduce to you to the Gratitude Store. There are so many beautiful and inspiring options. I am going to get proactive about the pigeon problem today. First, I will meet with the apartment manager. If I get no response there, I will contact the Housing Authority that oversees apartments and the corporate office. It’s totally out of control.
